KfEDFORD MATL TRIBUNE. EDFORD OREGON'. FRIDAY. .TTLY 16. 1HH7. PAGE TTTRF.I; ;.p. VISITS PARK ON JAUNTTO SOUTH Belief that th labor iltufttlon U tn more Mttled condition In the east than -on the west coast wu ex pressed this morning by Cleveland Dodge of-New .York. City, a director of the Southern Pacific railroad and prominent business man of the east. Mr. Dodge, with bis wife and three children. Elisabeth, Cleveland Jr. and Joan, arrived In M1 ford this morn ing by special car for a oneday stay en route south. They planned to spend the day at Crater Lake. The strike situation seems to be settling down somewhat In eastern auctions." Dodge stated, adding that from what he has observed during his stay on the Pacific coast, troubles of trie teamsters' end longshoremen's unions complicate labor unrest In this part of the country. Although declining to express an opinion of the relative merlta of C. I. O. end A. P. of L Dodge does not favor violent strike methods charac terizing C. I. O. activities, and de clared his respect for the federation's attitude. Labor troubles throughout the country have had a definite effect tn slowing business progress. Dodge said, pointing out that hesitancy on the part of Investors and expansion In terests has been noted to a consul enable extent by rail executives. The same fear of the future may be seen in other lines of business and in' ustry, Dodge believes. The visitors were to continue south tonfght. Livestock . Portland ' PORTLAND. July ' (AP-U.8. Dept.
