Previous to the Joint session at
the Rlalto theatre, a colorful parade
of the Department Auxiliary left city
park at 9 a. m. and moved down
Main street to Central, and thence
to the Elks temple. At the temple,

The parade waa led by the Med
ford high school drum corpa and
band, and included 31 Auxiliary

Auxiliary campa marched to the
Rlalto theatre for the joint aeaalon
with the Department U. 8. W. V.

featured the opening day of the four
day encampment, The memorial
address waa given by Department
Chaplain f. a. Shaw.
The aervlcea opened with an organ
prelude, and the entire gathering
singing "America." The church waa
filled to eapaclty. The Rev. Sherman
L. Divine gave the opening prayer,
and the Rev. E. S. Bartlnm gave a
scripture reading. Introductory re
mark, were made by Department
Commander Hugh S. Rogers and De
partment Auxiliary President Millie
Hall following a solo by Edna Elfert,
"No Night There."

son Psul has been employed at Ster
ling the past two months, sustained
a leg Inqury at the mine July
while working on a piece of hydraulic
pipe with a cold chisel. A fragment
of steel from either pipe or chisel
became deeply Imbedded In the flesh
of his thigh. A number of X-ray
and a minor operation were required
to remove It. The wound Is reported
as healing satisfactorily.

AUTO DRIVER IS HELD

RIVERSIDE COLLISION
City police said today that Ivan
Beach, 34, of Telent would probably
be charged with reckless driving as a
result of an automobile crash on
Riverside avenue at Thirteenth street
late Saturday night that sent three
persons to the Community bospltel.
Beach hss been held In the city Jsll
on en open chsrge since the mlshsp.
He will probably appear In city court
this afternoon, police said.
Loren Seheel of route 1 reported to
city police yesterdsy that the ear driv
en by Beech hsd struck nls machine
about one mile south of Talent the
asme night, and bsd driven on with
out stopping. 8c heel told city police
he gsve chase for five miles before
Beach consented to atop, but that
he, Scheel, could get no Information
or satisfaction from Beach and let
him go.
Later In the evening, the Beach
car collided with a, machine driven
by P. F. Bone of 1134 Court atreet,
damaging both badly. Elizabeth Ste
vers of Central Point suffered three
broken ribs, Dayton Cooper of Tslent
received a fractured left arm. and
Earl Weterland of Talent suffered
minor bruises and scratches. All
were psssengers In the machine driv
en by Beach. Waterland waa releas
