(Special Correspondence) On the morning of July 2 Rep. James W. Mott of Oregon came to our south ern Oregon Boy Scout camp to make arrangements to take the boys to the capltol on Tuesday. In the afternoon the boys went to the department of Justice build ing, the Washington monument and th Lincoln memorial. The depart ment of Justice building Is a mod ern five-story structure. There we saw how fingerprints are classified and filed. We also saw 600 different kinds of bullets, many sub-machine guns, bullet-proof vests and bullet proof glass. " We all climbed the 66 stairways to the top of the Washington monu ment. From the top we viewed the whole city. We went down In the slow elevator. There were so many scouts up there we couldn't look out of the windows very long. We walked along the thousand-foot-long mirror pool to tho Lincoln memorial. On the top of tho build ing the names of all tho states and the dates of their admission are carved In the stone. The statue of Lincoln Is very large. It takes up most of the building. After supper wo went to tho trad ing post and saw the yo-yo contest that Is put on for the scouts to partlclpnte In. We saw somo fire works before we got to bed. ' On July 3 we all prepared for In spection and In the late morning we visited the '.Vashlngton airport. We saw some big transports land and take off. We also saw a blimp land and take off several times. In the afternoon we went to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural His tory. We saw skeletons, dinosaurs, minerals, Jewels, statues, about 100 antique pianos, Chinese and Mexican relics and stuffed animals. Wo stayed there for an hour and then - we went to the Smithsonian Institute across tho park, At the Institute we saw Lind bergh's "Spirit of 8t, Louis," Post and Catty's "Winnie Mae," lots ot enormous ship models, one 6f Ste phenson's first locomotives, one ot Washington's carriages and many other Interesting exhibitions. Wc stayed In the building about four hours,- but to enjoy it completely you should stay . there a month. ' We attended a campflre In the evening.
