A unirtly clad marching order of Ash land Llthlans will participate In the OreaUr A&hland celebration parade here July 17, according to plans made at a meeting of the reorganized club Monday night. Uniforms will be all white, with coats omitted from the regalia until fall. A committee consisting of V. D. "Bert" Miller, H. L. Claycomb and Fred Tayler was appointed to order the cream-colored trousers, white shorts, white shoes and straw hats. , Grand High Fizz William M. Brlggs appointed Millard Grubb, Dan Kay and Boy Prazier on a committee to study an offer made by Karl P. Nlms, secretary of the club and manager of the Twin Plunges, whereby the Llthlans will sponsor dances at the outdoor floor at the Plunges this summer for the benefit of the club's exchequer. , Other business at the meeting In eluded authorization for the officers to make plans for a social meeting and the appointment of Henry En dera as a committee of one to re organize the famed Llthlan male octette. ! Plans were made to Invite other similar organizations to participate In the Greater Ashland celebration, and letters were to be sent by Nlms to. the Medford Craters, Grants Pass Cavemen, Treka Miners, Klamath Palls Pelicans, Umpqua Chiefs of Boseburg,"rtT'The" Sigene Radiators. JV s decided to hold regular meetings on the third Thursday In each month, with the first Thurs day subject to special gatherings. NEW TOURIST CENTER TO BE CREEK AREA Approval of plans for the construc tion of a new restaurant, hotel and atore building by Edward W. Regnler at Union Creek was announced today by Karl L. Janouch, supervisor of the Rogue river national forest on which Mr. Regnler la a permittee. The new structure will replace the building that was destroyed by fire some weeks ago. It la planned k have the restaurant and store operat- Ing In two months, the hotel rooms to be completed later. The new building will be set back a considerable distance from Crater .Lake highway, with parking space provided In front. It will be a two atory structure of rustle design to harmonize with the general architec ture of the United States forest ser vice. The building will have a front age of 70 feet and a depth of 36. The exterior will be made of shake aiding with a rough lumber trim. Completion of the second-floor Inte rior will be deferred until later. "It will be a lovely structure In a beautiful setting," Mr. Janouch said, explaining that forest service archi tects cooperated in designing the building. Mr. Janouch and C. M. Ross, architect on the staff of the regional forester in Portland, went over the plans with Mr. Regnler yes terday. Preliminary construction was begun Monday. The grounds also include a num ber of cabins which were untouched by the fire. Following the sign dedication, va rious athletic events featuring foot races by children for cash prises will be staged the afternoon of July 3. At eight o'clock Saturday night, the new open air dance pavilion overlooking the Rogue river will be dedicated, i with a gala carnival dance following. The Townsend club of Rogue River wilt serve free barbecued meat from Its kitchen at noon July 4, with everyone Invited to take advantago of the offer. The official parade and Independence Day speech will take place In the morning, with Col. E. E. Kelly of Medford a nominee for the address. Featuring the Sunday afternoon entertainment program will be the rodeo, with bucking and roping con tests, relay and Roman races and one-half mile horse race on the bill. Highlight of the rodeo will be the musical rope contest with a 93 cash prize awarded the winner. Willis Mahoney, state political fig ure, will give an address at 7 p. m. July 4. At 8 p. m., a boxing and wres tling card will be staged, witn two grappling bouts slated and five fight. the latter to consist or tnree lour round bouts and two six-rounders. A cash prize of 135 will go to the winner of the rock drilling contest to be staged the afternoon of July 6. Runner-up will receive $15. Doty, charged with driving a truck with an obstructed view, entered a plea of not guilty. After hearing the testimony of th arresting officer and Doty, the court found Doty guilty and assessed a . fine of 95 and coats. He waa given until July 15 to pay. To assist those who have not yet procured the new licenses, however, two state empoyes will continue to receive renewal applications at city hall dally to the end of the week. ! Upon acceptance of the applications they will Issue official reoelpt show ing that the new licenses have beeen applied for. Applications may also be sent di rectly to the secretary of state's of fice in Salem, full instructions for applying being contained In the re newal blanks which may be procured at city and state police headquarters, sheriff's office, Jackson County Chamber of Commerce or the Mall Tribune office. The new license costs 91 and Is good until June 30, 1939. The police emphasised that begin ning tomorrow It will be unlawful to drive automobiles without the new license. (AP) Death sentences were pronounced to day upon Robert J. Suhsy and Qlen J. Applegate, convicted murderers of Federal Agent Wlmberly W. Baker. Federal Judge Richard J. Hopkins de nied their motion for a new trial. Suhay and Applegate shot It out with Agent Baker when he sought to arrest them April 16 In the Topeka postofflce for the $18,000 robbery of a Katonah, N.
