Automatic Matching The battle royal, In addition to providing the expected spectacle of wholesale slaughter, will take - the match-making worries off the fur rowed brow of Promoter LUlard. All squabbles will be for two out of three falla or a one hour time limit. Femls Take interest Taking first rank among several personal beefs Is the Belcastro-Black Dragon feud, which had Its bloody beginning last week when the Mnd Italian from Weed, Cal upset On dope buckets and gave the hooded demon a nifty beating, resulting In the letters unmasking to the delight of paying customers. For that severe belting received from a guy he had alwaya hated anyway, the Black Dragon has called upon all his pre historic ancestors to witness his re taliation. Another private set-to that should cause considerable fireworks Is the Prankle Taylor-Monte LaDue squab ble. Both grapplers hate each other like poison, principally because of a couple of terrlflo bouts In Klamath Palls, snd both have vowed that they will shoot the works tonight. Prnprletnr WILD HEAVE GIVES CRATERS 4-3 V OVER LUMBERMEN Sakralda Romps Home With . Winning Run When Glen- dale Shortstop. Throws Hiah to First in Ninth A wild throw to first base In the Uut half of the ninth Inning by Dwlght Catherwood, Olendale short stop, enabled Dick Sakralda to score from third base with the tally that gave the Medford Craters a 4-3 win over the Loggers yesterday at the high school field. It was the Craters' second straight victory, and was the final game of the first half Southern Oregon league schedule. Great clutch pitching by Larry Pepper, who relieved Ray Ertckson on the Medford mound in the eighth In ning with two Loggers on and no body out, contributed heavily to the victory. The brilliant curve bailer re tired the side without a run and sot them back in the ninth, to win his third victory of the year, Mhortstop Throws Wild With the score knotted at 3-all In the last of the ninth," Sakralda walk ed after Pepper had struck out, went to second while Dick Lewis was be ing tossed out, and reached third on a wild pitch. Carpenter, Olendale burler, purposely wslked Wally Rick ert to get at Duke Hanklnson. Hank Inaon bounced : an easy grounder down to shortstop; Catherwood scoop ed It up and threw high over Pierce's head at first, and Sakralda romped across the plate with the winning run, After hurling shutout baseball for six Innings and allowing only two hits, Medford's young Ray Erlckson faltered In the seventh frame and the Loggers tied the score. Two glaring errors by Duke Hanklnson at third base didn't help any, hs booting Avery's ground ball to start things, pierce drew a free pass and thon Avery set sail for third base. Balko vlck made a perfect throw to third, but Hanklnson waa asleep at the switch, falling to cover the bag. Ar thur tripled to left center scoring Avery and Pierce and Pete hammer ed a single to left sending Arthur over with the tying run. - Danger Soon over When Catherwood and Stewart, first two men up In the eighth, rap ped olean singles, Manager Balko vlck waved Erlckson to the showers and sent In Lsrry Pepper. Avery, Im mediately moved the two runners up a base with a sacrifice, and It looked bad; only one out. Pepper, however, fanned Pierce with sweeping eurve balls and forced Miller to ground weakly to Bob Smith on first, and the danger was over. Louie Carpenter, lanky hurler from the class D Arkansas-Missouri league, allowed 10 hits but kept them well scattered except for ths first Inning when the Craters scored three times on four safeties. In that Initial stanza, Sakralda, leading off, got a base on bslls, and went to second on Dick Lewis' single down the third base foul Una. Wally Rlckert laid a beautiful bunt down the third base line and there wasn't even a play made for him. It loaded the bases. Sakrslda scored when Hanklnson hit to shortstop but Dick Lewis waa tagged out between second and third. Bob Smith singled to cen ter counting Rlckert and when Hank lnson also tried to score on the play, he was thrown out by 20 feet. Lylo Russell, the IS-year-old Crater sen sation, then lopped a triple Into left to score Smith. lilts Besr No rrult Prom then until the ninth Inning, Medford drew a solid string of horse collars, slthough getting two hits In each the fourth, fifth snd sixth in nings. Sloppy baserunnlng waa an Im portant factor In keeping the Cra tera away from home plate. Erlckson, using his fast ball to ad vantage, set the Loggers down with two hits until the seventh. Arthur singled In the second and Avery dit toed In the fourth: otherwise the "Everybody's Talking" "8ay, Sarge. do you know GOLD SEAL BEER isn't weet nnd it isn't bitter?" Loggers were completely at the right handers' mercy. Russell In right field and Sakralda In center pulled two great catches for Medford and Catherwood knock ed down a terrific Una drive from the bat of Dick Lewis to force a runner at third. All Southern Oregon league elubi draw a bye next Sunday, with the sec ond half starting July II. Medford will battle Ashland In a two-game series at the Llthla city next Sun day and Monday as a feature of the July 4 celebration In the nelghbotng town. A large crowd attended the game yesterday. You couldn't blsme major league magnates If they peeked under sec ond ' bsse or back of the scoreboard or some such place today In the hope of digging up a rivalry to match the .Carl Hubbell-Dlzzy Dean auei. For, win, lose or drew between the Olsnta' southpaw ace and the Cardinals' great popper-offer, any time those two go to the post against each other, they pack 'em In to the rafters. To the moguls, It didn't matter so much that Hubbell topped but uae a tent yesterday to take an 8-1 decision In the latest renewal of their pitching rivalry. What was more Interesting to the front of fices, was the fact that 38,719 fans made It look like world series day In Sportsman's psrk for the battle. The crowd made It more than 130, 000 who have turned out for the three Dean-Hubbell clashes this year. "Expertlng" faces are plenty red these days over the Hubbell pro gress. Old Squarepants, after winning 24 straight, bogged down badly re cently, dropped four In a row and was belted out six times running. Immediately the wolves, were heard and when Bill Terry continued send ing him back time after time, there were any number of yelps that what Hubbell needed was lots of rest, not more work. But Hubbell, never miss ing his regular turn, snapped back to form. Yesterday's win. In which he al lowed but alx hits, fanned six and did not walk a man, compared to the 10 hits Dean gave up, waa his second straight. Achieved with the aid of two homers Uy Mel ott, the win sent the Olanta and Cards Into a virtual tie for second place In the National league..
