- The air tour la to visit ten Ore
gon cltlet between July 3 and 11.
beginning at Medford. Approximately
15 planes and 250 persona will Be
Included In the tour.
The button badges will take the
place of tlcketa for the ahow, it was
pointed out. Officials of the Med
ford chapter urged Medford resi
dents to purchase the buttons early
In order to further publicize the
tour.
Fred Heathf Jr.. and L. D. Jones
are In charge of advance sales of
the buttons. It was observed that
all highways and county roads win
be closed 'to parking during the air
show here and the only point of ob
servation will be the Medford airport.
Adequate apace for spectators and
care will be provided within the air
port grounds, officials said.

NUISANCE TAXES
EXTENSION BEAT
WASHINGTON, June 11 (AP)
The house beat down an attempt
today to limit extension of the so
called "nuisance taxes" to one year.
An amendment to effect such a
limitation was offered by Represen
tative Dlngell (D.. Mich.) but lost
74 to 60. after democratic membera
of the ways and meana committee
Insisted on the two-year extension
Divided by the bill.
Only a handful of democrats vot
ed for Dlngell'a proposal although he
said It would Insure the drafting
next fall of a "Just" tax bill which
would permit repeal of the nuisance
taxel estimated to provide $850,000,-
000.
ON 'FRISCO FLATS

The U. 8. 8. Tennessee ran aground
on the mudflats off Alameda today
and four powerful tugs attempted
to pull the craft back Into deep
water.
Navy headquarters said the ahtp
apparently suffered no damage.
The chamber of commerce marine
exchange said high tide was at S
p.m.. and that efforts would be
made to pull the Tennessee from
the flats.

FILE FUND PLEA
SALEM, June 11, (AP) The state
emergency board, at Its meeting here
Monday, In addition to considering
a request for 115,000 to employ seven
additional guards at the penitentiary
and place the staff on a six -day
week, will hear requests from the
state board of higher education.
It was learned here the education
group will ask for the diversion of
437,000 from the general fund for the
use of higher Institutions of learn
ing. The money originally was levied
for the support of the schools but
reverted to the general fund.
The board was scheduled to meet
in the secretary of state's office here
at 10 a. m. Monday.
