Unusual Rites at
Thursday Session
An unusual ceremony was perform
ed Thursday evening at a gathering
of Adarel chapter, O.E.S., when the
chapter conferred the dedication of
adoption upon Betty Jean Hoffman,
Infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
R'chard Hoffman of Jacksonville.
Mrs. Blanche Taylor, worthy ma
tron, presided, Mrs. E. S. Severance,
mother of Mrs. Hoffman, acted as
conductress and Mrs. Lulu Saulsberry
presented the honoree with a gift
from the chapter.
Mrs. Severance and Mrs. Hoffman
are past matrons of Adarel chapter
and Mrs. Severance has also been

50th Anniversary
Judge and Mrs. W. E. Crews of this
city were today observing their golden
wedding anniversary at their home
on South Oakdale avenue.
No formal celebration of the event
was arranged and the day was to be
spent quietly. Scores of friends In
southern Oregon and other parts of
the state will be interested v hear
of the anniversary.
Tiie couple has resided in Medford
for many years and they are among
prominent residents of the city. Mr.
Crews for a time held the post of
state corporation commissioner In Sa
lem and at that time made many
friends in all parts of Oregon.
Moe Sells Women's

KLAMATH FALLS. June S. (AP)
Moe's women's store, pioneer
Klamath Falls business, has been
purchased by the Miller Mercantile
corporation of Salem. It waa an
nounced today by G. O. Miller,
president of the Miller company.
Amount involved In the transaction
waa not revealed.
Miller said the store would remain
under the same name and that
the preaent personnel, Including Earl
Isaacs, manager, would be retained.
The- store recently celebrated Its
twentieth anniversary. Henry Moe,
the founder, said he plans to retire.
Mr. Moe formerly conducted
store In thla city.
