Nor aon. Charged with the second degree murder of M. M. Mow, Fields filed an affidavit asserting that testimony of the witnesses was needed to estab lish his Innocence. He said In the affidavit he was not guilty of the crime charged. He also asked that expenses be allowed two wi;nesses who reside In Orland, Calif., and the court authorized a reasonable allow ance. - The witnesses listed In the affida vit were Don Silver and Juanlta Sil ver of Orland, Cam.; Charles Talent, Ashland; Laurence Smith, Eagle Point; Earl Brown, Ashland; Herb Moore, deputy sheriff here; W. T. Hull. Ashland; Ernest and Margaret Fields, Klamath Falls; Cliff Baugh man, Ashland; Clyde Smith, Jackson ville; and the jailer at Klamath Falls whose name was not specified. Trial of the case Is tentatively scheduled for June 7. Fields Is ac cused of slaying Mow In the home of Fields' estranged wife In Jackson ville February 6. Ous Newbury has been appointed by the court to de fend Fields. Fields has admitted firing the fa tal shot but claims self defense and the unwritten law. There had been previous trouble between the men over Mow's asserted -attentions to Tlelds' wife. Mow, records show, had been warned by authorities to keep awy from the ' woman. . First Lady Resigns.
