Both Medford companies regis tered attendance gains In April over March. Building Fermlts Lange Motor company applied for two permits from the city building Inspector's office this morning. One for the construc tion of a washrsck at 38 North Riv erside avenue at a stated cost of 400. The other waa for the con struction of a temporary sheet-metal building at 17 South Riverside ave nue at a stated cost of 6300. T. E. Daniels applied for a permit to con struct a ahoe-repalr shop at 137 North Central avenue at a atated cost of 1700. Move to Portland Mr. and Mrs. Ed Shockley and son Philip left to day for Portland following the re cent advancement of Mr. Shockley to a position In that city with the Northern Life Insurance company. Mrs. Shockley and her son will spend the summer at her former home In Minnesota after which the family will establish permanent realdence In Portland. For the past two years Mr. Shockley has been associated with the Northern Life Insurance company In this city where he hs established a splendid record with the company. The new licenses, costing $1. will be good for two years Brings Prisoner Leo McLsln, Unit ed States deputy marshal, returned last evening from Klamath Falls whither he went to serve subpoena upon witnesses for trials In the fed orsl court at Portland. He brought back a prisoner Peter W. Keyea, 60 Klamath Falls Negro, who waa placed In Jackson county Jail pending his removal of Portland. Keye la charged with selling liquor to Indians. Mr. McLaln will take the prisoner to Portland Friday night. This will end Mr. McLaln'a temporary service as deputy In charge of the Medford of floe. He will reaume his regular post on the marshal's ataff at Portland and the oflfc here will be placed In charge of Paul Hanlln. Medford resi dent recently appointed deputy mar shal. Pierre, one of Paris better known coiffeurs, asserted today he had been asked to come to the chateau Cande on May 31 to tint the dark hair of the future Duchess of Windsor a dark blue to go with her eyea and the wedding gown of blue ahe will wear on June 3. That waa one tidbit of the day's news about the Chateau de Cande, where the whir of the lawnmower rose and died In springtime cadence for an hour this afternoon. At the handle was the Duke of Windsor, the man who once was king. Herman L. Rogers, the chateau's American spokesman, gave out some thing else. He let It be known there would be no entertainment for the wedding guests on the night before the nuptials. That was tn keeping with ths quiet tone of the ceremony. The couple will be married with a double ring ceremony In ths music room of the Crateau Cande, a source close to the household disclosed to day. The rings to bind the troth of the abdicated monarch and the woman for whom he gave up his throne, will be exchanged during the French civil ceremony to be performed by Dr. Charles Mercter. the mayor of Monts, on June 3.
