OF Featuring tomorrow night's grapple at the local mansion of misery wlU be three of the most downright ornery bad men to ever disgrace the game. Mack LUlard, wrestling lmpresearlo, In announcing the card the other day. stated that he was tentatively planning to arrange for extra police men to be on hand during proceed ings, and that he might find It nec essary to establish a first aid room in the armory. It Is not definitely known whether or not LUlard was kidding regarding the first aid business, but from nil appearances and records of the three toughles he has signed up to commit legalized mayhem, It would seem that such a station would be strictly in order. BecniiAC of a redhot riot and free-for-all in Los Angeles Friday even ing, a slight change In tho previ ously announced program will be made. In the place of Dangerous Danny McShane, big Pete Bait ran will meet Sammy Feeback In the opening event. Dangerous Danny was Involved In the L. A. riot to sucn an extent that today he la nursing a fractured Jaw. No details were set forth In the wire Promoter LUlard received from McShane directly after the brawl. Anyway, the substitution of Baltran wlU not lessen In the least the array of blackguards who will tangle with legitimate grapplers. Below ore list ed the toughles who wlU display their dirtiness to an expected packed house. In th order of their meanness they are: 1. Joe Smollnskl, the terrible Pol ish Pslooka. Joe has been absent from the local emporium for several weeks, during whlih he has toured here and there. He Is, without doubt, the most hated scoundrel since the era of Terrible Ted Christy and re gards the wrestling game as Just one big alley-brawl after the other. He faces Alvln Brltt in the middle event, and paying customers will In clude the ex-Junior heavyweight champion In their prayers. 3. Pet Belcoatft), the Mad Italian from Weed, Cal. Second only to Smollnskl in the matter of under handed tactics, Pete meets Sailor Dick Trout In the top main event In addition to being about as dirty as they come, the Weed villain poa acn&ca a nice change of pare, In that he has a certain amount of what It takes between the ears. If placed end to end, the grapplers Pete has licked by foul means would stretch from here to there, and he has laid elaborate plana to add Sailor Trout to the list. Trout's plans are some what dlffreent, so the match should be one of those things. 3. Pete Baltran, the New York City bad man. Baltran, a huge dark-hntred gorilla, tangles with newcomer Sammy Fee back In the opening bout. Although not so foul a grappler as Smollnskl or Belcas tro, Pete Is nevertheless no angel. In facing Feeback. he will be meet ing an exceptionally fine grunt and groancr from Kansas City, Mo., who will be making hit first appearance here. NEW YoilcTMay 15. TO FACE CRATERS Manager Mike Balkovlck sends hla Medford Craters Into Southern Ore gon league action at Ashland (thls afternoon bent upon breaking 'into the win column. The game Is called (or 2:30 sharp at the high school field. Starting hurler tor the Craters, InacUve slhce the league opener two weeks ago, will be either Ray Ertckson or Larry Pepper, both "young righthanders.' On the mound for the Ashland Llthlana wlU be Lowell Brown, the clrcult'a lone southpaw pitcher. . Billed' as a grudge battle, the fra cas may turn Into Just that. Two years ago dlsbandment of the entire league waa averted only at the laat minute following player trouble between the two clubs. Med ford "stole" Bill Courtney and Arn old Bauman and tried to get Cliff McLean from the Llthlana and the latter retaliated by "pilfering" Billy Calvert from Medford. Laat aeason. neither city had league entrlea. To date Ashland haa dropped bat tles to Crescent City and Roscburg and Medford was shutout by Oranta Pass In the circuit Inaugural. Last week after allowing Roeeburg only three hits, Brown lost to the Pirates when an error in left field was responsible for two runs crossing the plate.. Ashland John Q. Fans are wager ing even money and better that Lowell Brown stands Medford hit ters on their collective heads. Manager Balkovlck of the locals will rely on either the wide, sweep ing curve ball of Pepepr or the sharper hook of Erlckson to atlll the Llthlan war clubs. Both hurlers have Improved mightily since last season; Erlckson coming up with a high hard one this spring that fairly sizzles and Pepper adding considerable speed to his always good curve ball. Both have excellent control and both hove displayed whet It takes to go the route. Forced to remain Idle last Sunday aa rain postponed their tiff with Crescent City at the coast town the Craters have blazed through tough workouts dally at the ralrgrounds field and are In greit ahape lor their aasault on their arch-enemies. Manager Balkovlck has been es pecially Impressed with the per formances of Dick Skeetera. the 15 year old Talent high school pitcher. The huge skipper saya that he will carry Skeetera all year, but prob ably won't use him on the pitching rubber. He Is a great fielding sec ond baseman and can sock that apple. The Craters will probably line up in .hiut thA um. fashion they did on opening day. The Infield will see Donovan on tnira. uic at ahort, Wally Rlckert at second, and either Virgil' Swanson or Holt man on the Initial cushion. In case Hoffman starts at first. Swanson. a terrific hitter, will be shifted to the outfield. Balkovlck will catch. That lnlleld 1 figured far and away the class of the circuit. It turned In, three sparkling double killings against Granta Pass two weeks ago and added two agalna prospect In an exhibition affair las Sunday. The outfield la itUl rathsr ua. settled and will not be definitely known until game time. Manager Balkovlck aald that five fly-chaeeri are looking especially good. They are Ray Lewla, Maloolm Stlna. George Gltzen. Dick Sakralda and Swanson. With Swanson on fire base, the three starting bertha win He between the first tour aluggert mentioned. With unexpected batting atrengtn added by the acqulaltlon ot Phil Kcaton, former Ashland high foot, ball star and one of the heavies hitting outfielders to ever sock a, safety In southern Oregon, the Uth. lans will present dangerous club.
