IN ANNUAL MEET Eighty Delegates From Units of County Gather With Specialists Four New Members Are Elected The sixth annual county home makers day was held at the court house May 3, to plan the home eco nomics extension program for the coming year. Eighty delegates repre senting the 18 home extension units, recreation leaders, and parent edu cation study club groups attended. Extension staif members from Cor vallia were: Azalea Sager. state home demonstration leader; Maude Morse, parent education specialist; Joan Patterson, house furnishings special 1st; Izola Jensen, extension special ist In community social organization. and Helen Anne Thomas, .home dem onstration agent-at-large. The' morning program at which Mrs. O. C. Maust of Central Point. county extension committee member, presided. Included discussion of new developments in the state home eco nomics extension program by Mrs. Sager, and a discussion of the coun ty program summary and results of past year by Mabel C. Mack, county home demonstration agent. Following group discussion each group prepared recommendations for projects to be Included In the pro gram for 1937-38. Luncheon was served at Valen tine's Cafe, Mrs. Walter Young of Eagle Point, county extension com mittee member, presiding. Mrs. Effle Blrdseye of Gold Hill was luncheon speaker. Mrs. Blrdseye discussed the program of the state home eco nomics extension council, stressing the scholarship fund project and legislative program. The afternoon session at which Mrs. C. E. Myers of Medford, county extension committee member, pre sided. Included "resentatlon of rec ommendations from the various dis cussion groups. Four new members were elected to the county extension committee: Mrs. Q. E. Ousterhout of Eagle Point to succeed Mrs. Walter Young of Eagle Point; Mrs. Pearl Williams of Tal ent to succeed Mrs. Bert Nichols of Ashland; Mrs. Lee Port of Applegate to succeed -Mr. - Herbert- Hanna - of Jacksonville and Mrs. Walter Ricks of Howard to succeed Mrs. O. C, Maust of Central Point. The county extension committee will meet Saturday, May 8, with Mrs. Sager and Mrs. Mack, to pre pare the county program based upon tne recommendations presented homemakers' day. .1. Taylor. 35, and Frank Johnstone sent the city's e.uto fatality rate to 31 since he police year started on December 1, Mrs. Taylor died early this morn ing two hours after a crash on .Fos ter road; Johnstone succumbed to injuries not long after an automo bile struck him aa he attempted to guilty to a second degree murder charge, and was sentenced to a maxi mum of 40 years In the state peni tentiary. UP Rogue River rejected the proposal to adopt a new charter Tuesday in Its fourth election In five months, not including one postponed, with little excitement. Only 97 votes were cant, barely more than half that In Its recent recall election. Forty-five voteo. for the change and 52 against. BANKERS ASSOCIATION PICKS NEW SECRETARY PORTLAND, May 7. The Ore gon Bankers' association named H. C. Pfund secretary today to succeed T. P. Cramer, Jr., who resigned re cently to become manager of the Grants Pass branch of the United States National bank. Pfund came here last Aurust from Des Moines. Ta. had been drinking Intoxicating liquor, he said, and he was attempt ing to "fober her up." He was sentenced by Judge R. L. McCrosky, and will be taken to prison at Walla Walla immediately. Klamath Cyclist Killed By Auto KLAMATH FALLS. May 7 (p) Forrest Manning, 10. died last night of Injuries received In a collision four miles west of this city between his bicycle and an automobile driven by W. T. Lee. Young Manning was coasting down hill when his bicycle suddenly swerv ed across the road and Into the path of Lee's car. Coroner George H.
