IDENTIFY VICTIM OF
TRAIN NEAR GARDINER
ROSEBURC1, Ore., April 30. (AP)
The body of a man found yesterday
on th railroad right-of-way four
mile north of Oardlner was Identi
fied last night as that of Earl Sellers,
,18,' of Marshfleld. Coroner K. C.
Stearns reported that Sellers appar
ently waa on his way to visit his
mother, Mrs. Florence Sellers, at
Springfield. The freight train on
which he was riding stopped to set
out some cars at Braehnan siding
and he apparently fell under the
wheels aa he attempted to board the
moving train as It was pulling out
on the main line, the coroner said. I

a dinner celebrating her birthday

and friends enjoyed dinner and an
afternoon of visiting.

for a day of squirrel poisoning. Sand
wiches, cake and coffee will be

Jackson County Teachers' chorus will
be presented In concert by the Ash
land chapter of the American As
sociation of University Women at the
Southern Oregon Normal school audi
torium, Monday at 8:15 p. m.. It
wa announced here Thursday. The
concert will be an event of Music
Week.
The chorus 1 directed by Mra.
Esther Church Leake, head of the
music department of the Medford
public school system, and will be as
sisted by Miss Lucie Landen, violin
ist of the Normal school. Chorus ac
companist Is Mary Chambers.
One of the number to be given
by the chorus, "Sunset and Sere
nade," was composed by Miss Lan
den, and she will play a group of
number.

Stanley N. Fuss, driver of the Wlmer
Evaru Creek school district bus, charg
ed with driving a vehicle with im
proper brakes, entered a plea of guilty
In Justice court yesterday afternoon
and was fined $5 and costs, amount
ing to C9.50.
The school bus had been ordered
off the road by the state police, be
cause of defective brakes. Fuss and
members of the school board claimed
the brake defects were due to be
coming wet after driving through a
creek. The school board plans to
buy a new bus for .the opening of
the fall term of school, but delivery
cannot be made until then. Three
weeks of school remain of the pres
ent term.

charged with speeding a truck on
the Pacific highway near Phoenix,
was assessed 95 and costs.
