Trhl, former county Judge, now on parole from state prlaon, on oonvlctlon of ballot theft. Papers have been served upon the city of Med ford, through Mayor George W. Porter and City Recorder Mote L. Alford. In which Fehl seeks "Injunctive relief" from paving aa- seasments on Part street property. The complaint Is filled with charac teristic Fehl charges, in which he Impugns the motives of city officials. The claim that he 1c still "the duly elected and qualified county Judge" is reiterated, and the complaint is signed "Judge Earl H. Fehl." In circuit court yesterday, the ad ministratrix of the estate of the late T. Helmroth, filed an answer In the suit of Mrs. Corinth la K. Stalley. claiming aha has a rental Interest In the Pacific Record -Herald building on Sixth street. Denial Is made In the answer that any agreement was entred Into with Mrs. Stalley, or any sum la due, aa claimed. The sheriff's return shows that Mrs. Stalley "refused to accept service of the papers." The Pacific Record-Herald building was transferred to Helmroth and j. B. Thomas of Ashland, through a sborlff'a deed, on a mortgage fore closure four years ago. DEBATERS LEAVE ' Med ford high school's debate team and Kenneth Scott Wood, coach, left today for Eugene, where they will debate Beaver ton high school for the western Oregon championship, In semi -finals of the state competition. The contest Is to take place at S o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Judges are to be members of the University of Oregon faculty. Winiwr of the Med ford -Beaverton fore n lea battle will meet the east am Oregon champion In finals for the state title. Mrs. Alma Msrrlman spent April 10 In Medford shopping and attending to business. Hutchinson and Boyd Tucker shopped and attended to business In Medford April 14. Lowell Aah has gone to the Car- berry ranger station, where be la do ing forest service work. Dr. Mattery la now spending a few daya In Medford attending to some business and having dental work done. Mrs. Xrme Cushman and Mrs. Lau rabell Ash called on Mrs, Newton at the school house Tuesdny. They report a number of sightseers as well as skiing parties at the lake. Robert Lewis, son of Mrs. Grace Lewis of this community, left Wed nesday for Portland to attend a con vention of the Future Craftsmen of America In session April 18-17. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Helms left re cently for Eagle Point, where Mr. Helms has employment with the Eagle Point Irrigation company. They expect to resldo at Butte Falls In a short time. Mrs. Chas. Hamilton returned Sun day from Coqutlle, where she Had spent a few daya with her ' brother. George Matney, who was ill. Hogan Is re cuperating from injuries received In an automobile accident several months ago. The Applegate river, with its mud dy torrents and rushing driftwood, following a night's steady rain, brought ma&y local sightseers to its banks Tuesday and Wednesday. (AP) Emer gency action by the crew and a tug saved the steamer Portland of the Hammond line from sweeping against the main pier of the Burnslde bridge yesterday when she was caught by cross currents and winds. The ship and tug together put on full speed ahead and passed through, pulling the stern clear Just as It was about to strike. Pioneer Dies WALLA WALLA, April 16 (AP) George T. Welch, early-day miner, cattle raiser, miller and wheat grow er, died late last night at the age of 04 years. A native of Maine, he went to California In I860 and In 1868 at Dayton, Ore., married Carrie Brown, a native of SUverton, Ore. Hltrh-niker Killed PRO&SER, Wash., April 16.
