Meeting Med ford members of the American Association of University Women are making plans to attend the 13th annual state meeting to be held In Klamath Palls this week-end, April 16 and 17. Miss Josephine Kirtley. head of the International study group of the lo cal branch, la to be the luncheon speaker. She Is to appear on the International relations program with Mrs. Francis Murphy of Portland as chairman, and Dr. Kate W. Jameson, state president, presiding. Ml as Mary Yost, dean of women at Stanford university and national vice-president of the organization, and Mrs. L. T. Merwln of Portland, regional director of the north Pa cific section, will also take part as speakers on the program. Mrs. J. Royal Shaw, president of the hostess branch, will preside at the Friday banquet when Mrs. Merwln and Dr. Jameson wilt give a Joint report on the biennial convention re cently held In Savannah,. Oa. .(1 Medford members attending, be sides Miss Kirtley, will Include Miss Carin Degermark. Medford president, and Miss Maureen Carroll. Others are expected to Join the local dele gation. f Mistletoe Club Plans Luncheon. Mrs. Cella Geer will be hostess to members and friends of Mistletoe club at her home in Central Point for a covered-dish luncheon tomorrow afternoon at 12:30 o'clock. Those at tending are requested to bring ser vice. Mrs. Geer will be assisted by Miss Margaret Geer, Mrs. Frieda Klngsley and Mrs. Hannah Honor. All members are requested to be present at this week's R. N. A. meet lng. scheduled for 7:30 o'clock Thurs day evening when final arrangements for the state convention, which la to be held here, will be made. Mrs. Katharine Benson of Portland, state supervisor, will be present for the Thursday evening session to aid In convention plans. Leedy-Conklln Marrtrge Told. Announcement has been made ol the marriage of Ella Mae Leedy of Jacksonville and George Conklln of Caldwell, N. J. The civil service was performed Saturday afternoon In Medford. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Minnie Cromwell of Paskenta and Hollywood. Calif., and the grand daughter of Mrs. N. A. Brown of Pas kenta and Oakland, one of Cali fornia's oldest settlers. Mr. Conklln is the son of the late Henry Conklln of Caldwell, N. J. The couple will make their home In Jack sonville. Mr. Med fords talk featured the regular luncheon meeting of the club at the Hotel Medford. Plans are rapidly being perfected for the Medford Rotary club's par ticipation In the Inter -city meeting in Portland next Tuesday when a delegation of Rotarlana and buslnes men will enjoy the hospitality of the Rose City organization and prese;.c a program for Portland members. In the morning, after the Rotary dele gation arrives In Portland, the Med ford men will be guests of the Port land Breakfast club, following an In vitation received here from Tommy Luke, president of that organization. After the Breakfast club and Ro tary meetings, the Rotarlans will be guests of the Portland Chamber of Commerce on a visit to Bonneville dam. Business men Interested In making the pilgrimage with the Ro tarlans have been Invited to con tact Joe Marshall, secretary of the club, so that proper reservations may be made. Mr. Haws requested that luncheon reservations be made by calling the chamber of commerce not later than 10 a. m. tomorrow. WELL IN BUDGE! General county tund expenditures of Jackson county during March amounted to t25.166.44. according to a monthly report today by the coun ty clerk's office. This Is 9.8 percent of the budget. For the first quarter of the year, the budget expenditures total 33.9 percent, all departments being well within their budget allowances. Road fund expenditures for the first quarter amounted to 131,691.63, or 17.8 percent for the quarter. Snow and winter damage cau&ed an In crease in the norrrfll quarter spend ing. Portland Conclave Attracting Many Scores of delegates from all over the state are gathered In Portland this week to attend sessions of the b tenia! convention of the Oregon Congress of Parents and Teachers, which opened yesterday. Formal opening of the conclave was the gathering last evening In the Multnomah ballroom, when Mrs. John E. Hayes of Twin Falls, Idaho, repre senting the national congress, and Dr. Frederick M. Hunter, chancellor of higher education, addressed the assembly. Among the several Medford resi dents attending the conclave are Mrs. Jack Hoy land and Mrs. C, L. Word of Arrival Is Received Here Medford friends have received word of the birth of a daughter to Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Lezama of Chicago, March 7.
