At the first banquet four years ago
34 carriers were present: last night
there were 41. Talks oa various
phases of newspaper circulation were
given by Ardo Stocks, Bob Archer,
Willlsm Goodman, Glenn Harrison,
Alvln Thorbus, Harold Hartiell and
Billy Strang. Several other carriers
gave impromptu talks.

Monday evening from a vacation trip
which took them north to Seattle.

Plans for the bazaar to be given
by the Thursday club December 10 !
at the Engle hall have been complet
ed with committees announced. A
meeting of the members will be held
at the hall on Tuesday, December 8,
with each member bringing their
contribution to the rummage sale and
fish pond, and also the baz&ar. The
committees appointed are as follows:
Bazaar, Elva Briscoe, Jessie Barkley,
Mabel Stancllffe; rummage, Marie
Furry, Marjorle Wilcox: refreshment,
Cornelia Barnes, Elva Furry, Addle
Stead man; fish pond, Nettie Hall

Includes the Christian Endeavor or

meet In a three-day convention open
ing Friday morning, November 2T.

The sessions will be held In the
First Christian church of this city.
and the Congregational, Presbyterian
and Christian churches are co-oper-
aiing in plans for the entertainment
of the young people who will attend.
Registration may be made through
the committee In charge for 25 cents
or at the opening ol the convention
for 36 cents.
The convention banquet will be
held Saturday night In the social
rooms of the Congregational church,
for which there Is a nominal charge.
The Rev. Herman S. Relchard, min
ister of the Presbytarlan church of
Grants Pass, will be the principal
speaker for Friday's sessions. The
Rev. w. R. Balrd, psator of the Med
ford Christian church, will speak dur
ing the convention sessions.
Dr. Walter Myers, state field secre
tary, and Howard Cole will appear on
the program, aa will others of state
wide note.
Mayor T. S. Wiley will voice the
welcome of the city and the Rev.
James E. Morgan, pastor of the con
vention church, will welcome the del-
egates in the name of the churches.

Willis Lavender told detective that

her some drinks and then went to
an apartment.
He asserted that Fred K. Looney
appeared and threatened him for as

Lavender said he gave the couple 50.
The woman and Looney denied the
charges, the woman claiming Laven
der came to her apartment while ahe
was there. Looney said he did not
draw a revolver or threaten Lavender
or receive any money.
The fourth person held was William

Lavender claimed he bought the
