EARL GODDING. Administrator. , JACKSONVILLE High School News by STUDENT REPORTERS Hy O. L. Dewey . J'vllle played and won their final football game of the season at Cen tral Point, Armistice Day. This end ed their first successful football sea son in a long time. The Jacksonville "green-horns" so called at the begin ning of the year, are now a very happy Undefeated team. Everyone of the J'vllle fellows re members the coming of Coach "Chef Tun noil, last year. He began putting something Into the team It hadn't had for many years. Even so, last year's games were very disappoint Ing. J'vllle was practical ly a push around team for every school in the county to practice on. They played those games last season not scoring once I Only a few of the squad had seen a football before In their lives, but they did learn to "give" and "take." This year was quite another story, The boys, after practicing but four times, took the Medford high Bull dogs" 0-0. J'vllle bad the some team this year as last. The Junior high made the statement that J'vllle had too much weight. Why didn't they say that last year? The line avorago was the same. After J'vllle tied the Medford high Cubs, they did the same with Ashland high econd string. They tied again at Central Point, where after making a touch down In the first two minutes, they boon me over-confident and. before they knew It, were fighting hard to hold even tie. With more deter mination than the first time, J'vllle went back to Central point Armis tice Day. The boys played hard and after quite a battle won twelve to six. Jacksonville expect to play more than six games next year. With Coach Tunnell, backing them and a large squad coming out next year, the "Greenhorns" expect to go places. Next year will find the toss of Bud Mitchell and Don QodJey, outstand ing backfleld men, and Warren Mee, strong point man on the line. These boys ahowed excellent playing and good sportsmanship this year The whole school will miss them as well as the team on which they played. in regard to this Coach Tunnell says, "We'll be back stronger than ever next year. The three) boys who will be gone will have their places filled and the team will keep going strong." The boss feel the same about the going strong idea. And so until 1037 J'vllle! The new addition to Jacksonville school, which went Into use Monday morning, will be open for the patrons of the school to see next Tuesday evening, November 34, at a Thanks giving party and open house flven by the P.-T. A. The lower floor of the building is complete but tho science class toom on the second floor is yet to be equipped with links and demonstra tlon desk. The job of moving and adjusting the sciiool furniture and science equipment Is practically finished snd the student proclaim the new rooms a real asset. "A Sisterly Scheme," one-act play, to be presented by a oast from the Junior class and the Olee clubs will be festured on the program. These McLeod McLEOD, Nov. 33. (Spl.)
