Departing Member Honored at Dinner Mrs, draco Pellett, who Is to leave soon to make her home In Treks, Calif., was honored at dinner last Sunday by members of the Loyal Women's class of the rirst Christian church, following morning service. About fifty members and guests were present to honor Mrs. Pellett, and a large number of glfta wore pre sented the honorco. American Life Is Study Club Topic The program presented at this week's meeting of the Thursday Morn ing study club was concentrated on study of phases of Amerlcsn life. Mrs. William Miller acted as chair man for the program. mra. s. a. Moore presented a re view of "Roots of America" and Mrs. John Crews discussed calender topics concerned witn social welfare prob lems. Mra. B. B. Lowry gave an an notated review of the "frontier wo man" from Rlchtex'a "Early Amerl kana." Miss- Nancy Blake entertained the group with accordion medleys of American songs typical of various sections of the country. It was announced that as the next meeting date falls on Thanksgiving Day, the group will convene the Fri day morning following, November 37. Party Planned For Club Monday Eve Extensive arrangements are being completed for the program enter tainment to be presented at the so cial meeting of the Business and Professional Women's club tomorrow evening at the Rogue Valley school studio. The program will Include games, singing, musical numbers, dramatic vignettes and other features. The Misses Florence Mason and Jeanne Fabrlck nave charge of program ar rangements. Time Is announced as 8 o'clock, and all membera are In vited to bring guests. Thanksgiving decorations sre to be used. A number from the Medford club went to Klamath Falls last night and this morning to attend the dis trict conference of southern Oregon clubs held there this week-end. H. Kurd at her home. Ceylon waa the subject of the No vember reports. Mrs. J. O. Grey pre sented a paper on the "Lost Cities of Ceylon." Much of the history uf the island and Its people has been obalned by archaeologists In their excavation of ancient ruins of tem ples and cities, Mrs. Grey pointed out. The architecture of this powerful civilization rivals that of Egyptian marvels and Roman splendor and takes Its place among the wonders of the world today, Mrs. Grey con tinued. Mrs. P. R, Hagerty, in discussing "The Perahera Procession of Ceylon. stated that some of the old customs are stlU observed. These are religious festivals observing special days with all pomp and ceremony of ancient times. A wealth of gems and pre cious stones are used In preparation, for the festivals and In their many shrines Hagerty concluded. Mrs. Craws Is Hostess to Club Mrs. John Crews entertained mem bers of the Dixie club and thetr guests at her home on Rogue River for a recant meeting, with luncheon preceding the business session. Entertainment was provided by members, each one participating In the program. Mrs. George Conode Is to be next hostess to the group. Mxk Waterman Hostess Tuesday Mrs. T A. Waterman was hostess Tuesday afternoon to members of the Ever Ready circle, when plans were dlscussfd for a joint project with tho Merrltt circle. Further deealls are to be announced later. California Visitors Honored By Lodge At Friday Session Honoring Mrs. Grace McMaatera, of Richmond, Calif., grand pocohontaa of the southern state, the Pocohontaa lodge entertained Friday evening.
