Pursuant to the provisions o( Section 8, Chapter 446 or the 1033 8esslon
Laws ot Oregon, notice 1 hereby given that the County Court of Jackson
County. Oregon, will meet at the Court House, In Medlord, Oregon, on the
SOth day ox November, A D. 1830, at the hour or 10:00 o'clock A. u. ol ssio
day and at the said time and place opportunity will be given lor a full and
complete discuaslon of the estimate of the amount of money proposed to
be raised by taxation for the ensuing year as published herewith, by any
taxpayer subject to such levy when msde in favor of or against any of the
proposed tax levies herein as the County Court may deem for the beat In
, terest of Jackson County.
The County Budget Committee for Jackson County, Oregon, has pre
pared and submits the following: An estimate of the amount required for

each County Improvement, the maintenance of each County building, itruc
ture or Institution, the salary of each county officer or employee, Including
those whoso salaries are fixed by statute, ior me improvement anu main

the estimate of the public receipts of the county from sources other than
direct taxation upon real and personal property In the county during the

last day of the ourrent year.The officers' salaries, the County S:hool Fund
for 10 000 children at 110.00 per child, the County School end School Library
Fund for 10.000 children at 10 cents per child and the County Library Fund
at .0002 of a mill are an nxea ay law.

Hallowe'en party for th puplH or
Pera Valley school was given by tnelr
teacher. Mrs. Del no Sloan at her iome
near Phoenix Saturday evening. Oct.
31. The children wore costumes and
masks. The evening was spent play-
In.; games, telling stories and treasure
hunting. Refreshments ot cake and
Ice cream were served. A very en
joyable time was had by all present
Ruth and Muriel Williams spent
Sunday at the home of their uncle,
Claude William ot Talent.
O. T. Pipes of phoenix transacted
business 1 nthe valley Monday.
Rev. and Mrs. Brown who tpent
several years In the Hawaiian Islands
have located In our neighborhood
They have moved into the Ed Mar
shall house. On account of not being
able to secure the Pern Valley school
bouse, they will hold services at their
home on Sunday, Tuesday Thursday
and Friday evenings. Everybody Is
given a cordial Invitation to attend
these services.
Mrs. L. H. Hughes accompanied Dr
and Mrs. Pralk Roberts to Klamath
Palls Saturday, returlnng Sunday
ovening.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Busey were Med
ford shoppers Wednesday afternoon.
Miss Clarice Brumer and brother
Herbert and Bob MrCurdy spent Mon
day night in Fern Valley, returning
to Grants Pass Tuseday with a load
of furniture, fruit and potatoes.

We further certify that the estimate of expense of th various Institu
tions of the County, of th amount required for publlo enterprise, roads,
bridges, etc. and all other expenses of the County as therein set out, Just
and Is based upon a careful study of the expenses of the County during the
paat three years, and a thorough examination of Its probable needs during
the yrsr for which such estimate Is made. That each and every Item there
in Is believed to be necessary for the proper transection of the business of the
County, the protection of It property and the Interests and to be for the
publlo wellare. That every expense estimated 1 In accordance with law, and
Is a legitimate charge against the County.

ENDS LOVE SUIT
HOT SPRINGS. Ark., Not. . (AP)
Five shots, fired In the privacy of a
fashionable hotel apartment, last
night ended the lives of Ed Ballard,
83, multl-mllllonaire sportsman of
French Lick, Ind., and Robert Alevsn
aer, 88, Detroit, Mich., a former bust
uess associate.
Ballard was found dead, Alexander
dying, when hotel employee forced an
entranoe to the apartment.
Detective Herbert Akers and Coron-
r J. P. Randolph announced It was

said Investigation indicated Alexan
der shot Ballard and himself.
Akers said he was convinced re
cent 6380,000 breach of contract suit
filed by Alexander against Ballard,

quartet and tap dancing by Miss
Ellene Withrow of Talent. About
sixty enjoyed the dinner and pro
