With each offer of forfeiture was a copy of the report of investigation or Olson's eligibility, prepared by Principal Smith. The report follows: "On the request of Mr. Swlgart of Grants Pass made laat Friday, October 30, an Investigation was mndo concerning the eligibility of Robert Olson, who hsd participated In several football games played this season. The following Is a statement of facta concerning the case: "The Olson family moved to Med ford from Nebroska shortly after the opening of school In September. The boy was regularly registered In a full high school course wnicn wouia permit his graduation from our high school In June, 1037. Tne lamuy lived for a short time within the city limits of Medford, then moved cut on route 1, outside the city Jlmlta of Medford but still In the limits of District 49, which la the Medford district. This move, of course, had no bearing on his eligi bility. "Shortly after the above mention ad move, Mr. Olson purchased a piece of property several miles from Medford and In what ws thought was a jion-hlgh school district, No. 16. Investigation of the tax records, however, ahows that the Olson home U actually over the line In District No. 4, which la the Phoenix high school district. Olson has,' therefore, been technlcslly Ineligible to par ticipate In Inter-school athletto con tests since the family moved to their present home In District 4. "As a result of the investigation we are offering a forfeiture to each school played after Olson's change from the Medford district to School District No. 4." filgned, O. O. Smith. The question of Olson's eligibility was first broached at the Teachers Institute meeting at Ashland last Mday, by Swlgart, who at that time stated that he and several others bad been talking over the Ineligibil ity of Olaon. The statement waa made to Principal Smith, who said he would Investigate Immediately. The tax office was closed that night but on Saturday morning the records were examined and It was deter mined there was a technical question as to Olson's eligibility. Principal Smith ssld today that wither Rose burg nor Marshtleld had as yet accepted the forfeiture. Rose burg wss downed by the Tigers 84-0, V'arshfleld went down under a 37-11 score, and Grants Pass waa defeated 1-7, Olaon figuring prominently In all the Medford scores and once galloping 72 yards to score against the Cavomen. The Eureka game was plsyed while Olson was still living In Medford, and the Caltfornlans, victims of a 10-0 thumping, were not offered a forfeiture. The Grants Pass Courier yester day carried the story of the for feiture under the heading "Medford Win Forfeited: O. P. Given Crown." The story lauds both Olson's skill aa a football player, and as a good sport. In the following paragraph: "Throughout the season Olson has conducted himself sa s good snort and one of the ablest players Med ford has put on the field In some time. His ball carrying wss alwava good for yardage, his pnanlnii waa tccurate. and his punting disastrous SO many an advame." Principal Smith said that on Mon day Swlgart had telephoned him and told htm that he considered protest ing the Med ford -a rants Pasa game Smith told him tint that wss his prerogative If he cared to do so, but told Swlgart that the Investigation wss not completed, snd that Swlgart would get a copy of It when It was. The championship went to Grants Pasa with two vlctortea and a for feiture. The Cavemen defeated Ash land 0-0 In their conference en counter, then won over Klamath Falls 14-0. At Medford they lost 31 -7 to the Tlgera and last Saturday, In a non-conference tilt, they lost to Ashland 13-0. NEXT WEEK IS WORD The Medford Armory, for the sec ond time In as many weeks, will remain darkened Monday night, the usual nlRht for wrestling or boxing shows. The announcement was made by Promoter Mack LUInrd, who said that there would bo no contests until after election excitement has died away. Probably on the following week there will he a boxing card with MllArd spending the Intervening few days In lining up a strong card. He did not announce who the -participants would be. It will be a team of veterans that Al Cox, coach of the powerful Oregon Normal Wolves throws at Jean Eberhart's , SONS here next Saturday afternoon In the annual Southern Oregon Nor mal homecoming game. Only two positions on the starting eleven will be taken care of by first-year men. Although bruised considerably from the hard game against Humboldt State last week, Eberhart's SONS are stowly reaching a fever pitch for tholr "big" game of the year, in addition, to upholding the responsibility of never having lost a homecoming game, tho SONS have little use for Mon mouth. The short athletic history of the two schools Is literally studded with fights, unpleasant episodes and foot ball games bordering on the vicious. Alth'.ugh adamant In commenting on what kind of an attack he will fling at the Wolves, Eberhart inti mated that his team has looked to best advantage through the air, and that he will let well enough alone. Practice sessions of the SONS seems to bear out that surmise. The principal weaknes of the locals at present seems to be In reserve strength at the flanks. With Percy Williamson and Gordon Rhodes out for the season with Injuries, Eber hart has shifted Ken Shilling from his halfback position to one of the ends. He will probably open at that spot, teaming with Darrell Leavens. Jim McBrldc will understudy both. Huge Harry Johnson and Bop Na pier, tackles, are both In good condi tion, as are Fred Carlson and Everett Sandburg, guards. Hedrlch Baugh man seems sure of his center position. Ashland was twice defeated by the powerful Medford Juniors, went down once before the Grants Paaa, Central Point and Klamath FallB teams, but has exhibited a fighting spirit that has kept all scores but the last Med ford game close. The same spirit has made the tiny Saints "outfit a colorful contender, and the game Is expected to attract a fairly large crowd. For several years the two schools have been friendly rivals, with Ash land having the edge In victories. This year for the first time the Balnts have a regular coach and full uni forms of their own, and are hoping for a win, which would be their first for the season. Past St. Mary's scores show them succumbing to the Med ford Juniors, 13-0, and to the Cen tral Point powerhouse, 13-7. The Saints may tangle with the Grants Pass reserves later In the month. KLAMATH TUSSLE A contemplated football game be tween the strong Medford Junior high team and the Klamath Falls Wildcats, freshmen and sophomore aggregation, has been called off and the local Juniors sre through for the year, Cosch Russell Acheson an nounced today. "Our team has had a tough sched ule of six hard games," Acheson said, "and while we could get post-season games other than Klamath Falls If we wanted them, I believe It Is best that we check In our equipment. Six games Is a pretty good season for boys the age of those on the squad." Acheson's team this season romped through all opposition except tho vastly heavier Jacksonville squad, and toward the latter part of the season received general acclaim as one of the beat teams In the history of the school. Acheson taught them one thing that made them stand head and shoulders above the average team In their class that was blocking. They blocked Ilka a college team In their last games.
