The re publican candidate get 1,182,307 Totes to the democrat's 878,526 and the union candidate's total of 75.110. The balance ot 22,787 voUs, or sllpht ly over 1 prr cent. Is divided among the four minor candidates, Lamko receives his largest Rtate vote In his home bailiwick of North Dakota where he is shown receiving a ltttle over 13 per cent of the total vote there. In Minnesota he receives slightly under 10 per cent of the state's vote and In all other states he Is Indicated receiving less. A special polling of Chicago Rives Roosevelt 10,034 votes out of total city tally of 35.017 to Landon'a 10.20.1 and Lemke's 1335, Indicating a scant plurality for the president In the 1111 nols metropolis. In Philadelphia. Roosevelt la ah own with 20.590 votes to Lanrion's 33,4(14 and Lemke's 2015 out of 68, 327 ballots reported from the Quaker city. Pittsburgh, where special treatment was given alno by The Literary Digest poll managers, gives Roosevelt 0RG6 Totes to date against receipt of 7005 ballots marked for Landon and 1340 for Lemke out of a total of 18,421. Cleveland Is reported balloting 20R3 for the democratic candidate to the republican's 1025 and the union party nominee's 412. New York city Is reported return ing 130.158 straw ballot eo fnr which are divided 8.1, 500 for Roosevelt, 42. 089 for Landon, 5B7U for Lemke and 4031 for others. All of the returns from the several metropolitan cities are reported as In cluded In the returns for the states of which they are a unit. La ml on shows a decrease percent-aT-wl in twenty-five states since last week's tabulation, an increase In twenty states and no change In three states. .Only In Illinois and New York, where a heavy metropolitan vote la reported, does his standing decline substantially. TO LAST REWARD Mrs. Matilda J. Adklns, long-time ploneor resident of Medford, passed away Prldey morning at the home of her nloce, Mrs. George E. Houck, In Roseburg. She was tho widow of Dr. B p. Adklns, who died in May, 1010. Since her husband's death, Mrs. Ad klns has divided her time between Medford and Itoaoburg. During their residence here, Dr. and Mrs. Adklns were among the moat prominent citi zens in tho valley. ; Matilda 3. Howard was born In Put nam county, Indiana. In IBS I and ' died at the ago of 65 years. She was united In marriage to Dr. B. P. Ad klns In 1868 and with their daugh ters came to Medford In 1878, when tho city was in the earliest stages of development. For many years, she and her hus band were prominent workers In the local Baptist church, having been among It founders. She was also an earnest worker In "the Women's Chris tian Temperance Union and was the last surviving charter member ot the Olive Rebekali lodge. No. 28, Mrs. Adklns was a woman of fine Christian character, loved by all who knew her and with a friendly word for everybody. She leaves many friends who will be grieved at her passing. She Is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Ora flar'nett, of Al h am bra, Calif., another daughter. Ada, having passed away several years ago; also one niece. Mrs. Edith Houck, of Roseburg, and several nephews, among them Leon O. and Oeorge W. Howard, of Medford. Puneral service will he conducted from tho Per! Puneral home Monday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock, with Rev. Dawes, of the Baptist church, offici ating. Rebeknh loci' will have charge of the services at the graveside. Inter ment will be In tho I. O. O. P. ceme tery beside her late husband. Renovation of the Sparta, Elliott and Chlldera buildings will be com pleted In the near future, it waa learned today. The three buildings, which extend from Medford Domestic Laundry on North Rlversldo avenue to Bear creek along East Main street, are being modernized for store and professional offices. The properties are owned by the Jackson Investment company, recent ly Incorporated here with George A. Hunt as president, Roland Hubbard, vice president, and Al Lit troll, secretary-treasurer. Already several new tenants havo taken space in the buildings and tho premises are being prepared for ad ditional occupants. Murray's beauty salon la one of the new tenants, hav ing taken quarters on the East Main street ground floor of tho Sparta building. Under the articles of incorporation, the Jackson Investment company la given wide powers In the purchase, sale, ownership, leasing and operation of real and personal property and tho erection, rebuilding, enlarging and improving of buildings of every description. The company Is capital ized at 25,000. LOCAL RESIDENT Herman P. Boycr. 82, of 821 West 12th street died of a heart attack while being brought to Ashland early yesterday morning for medical treat ment. Mr. Bovor had left Ashland for Klamath Palls with Dclsay Frost and K. E. Gtole. He became -111 near the summit of tho Green Springs moun tain. His frlonds then turned their autombbllo around and headed back toward Ashland to seek medical aid. Mr. Boyer died before they reached the city. He was pronounced dead by Dr. E. G. Everett. The body waa taken to the Perl mortuary. Puneral arrangements were being held in abeyance last night pending the arrival of a son. Edgar Boyer, of Portland.
