May July Wall St. Report NEW YORK, Oct. 23. (AP) Slow but insistent stock market demand today lifted selected oils, utilities, coppers, motors and specialties. At the same time many of the re cent leaders, including steels and rails, had rather tough sledding most of the session. Transfers were around 1,600,000 shares. Stocks with the greatest climbing power apparently were buoyed by cheerful company earnings, together with Increased and extra dividends in a number of Instances. Traders, .however, were still a bit wary. Some were inclined to stand ttslde pending the outcome of the election. Lessening of European ten sion was said to have been helpful.
