Phoenix citizens met at the city hall last night to nominate new city of ficials, w. D. Barnes, present mayor, declined to accept the re-nomination tendered him, and L. E- Stennett and w. D- Steadman will sek the office. Stennett la at present councilman for the first ward. Mrs. Nell V. Hearn was nominated as treasurer and Mrs. Inls F. Turpi n and V. R. Hallcraft accepted nomina tions for recorder. Two councilmen from each of the first, second and third wardsd will ba elected from tho following nomlneos: First J. W. Watklns. 0. T. Pipe (incumbent) and F- E- HaJlgren; second P. O. Modrell, jess Reynolds, and Rob Furry and Bert Btancliffe, Incumbents; third G. W. King. O. E. Stockwell, Guy Coblelgh and John E- Roberts, the latter two now holding the offices. Pear Market Yesterday T WASHINGTON, Oct. 16 (API American railroads oarrled more freight during the week ended Oct. 10 than at any time In almost six years. The Association of American Rail, loads reported today that 620,033 cars were loaded during the week ended Ust Saturday. This was the largest quantity since the week ended Nov. 8, 1930, when 839,023 cars were loaded. The loadings reported today an Increase of 1,069 cars, or .01 per cent, compared with the preceding week: an increase of 86,041. or 11.7 per cent, compared with a year ago, and an Increase of 183,196, or 38 8 per cent, compared with two years ago.
