Work ranging tram clean-up to

dent!, V boys and 7 girls, at the
senior high sebool during the month
of September In connection with the
nations! youth administration to aid
those who otherwise would not be
able to enter or remain In school
properly, The NYA allotments to the
local school are made lor three
montns' periods, the sum to be pro
portloned during that period as school
oflclals see fit. At the Medtord high
school, the sum U to be divided
venly between September, October
and November, according to C. a.
Bmlth, principal.
Students present applications- for
the part-time employment for the
whole year and school officials make
selections from the roup according
.to need, character and scholastic
worle.' students to be eligible must
be 18 years of sge or older.
All Applicants Aided.
So far. Smith stated, practically all
students applying for the aid have
been given It, as the number li not
proportionately large. At present,
those receiving aid are approximately
the same In number as last year at
this time, but are expected to be less
later on, according to Bmlth. For
the moat part, the some onei con
tinue working throughout the year,
unless the student's financial condi
tion ! Improved or unless It Is shown
that someone else needs It more. The
arrangement Is purposely flexible.
The maximum that any student
may receive lor the month Is if. or
54 during the entire year. Hourly
wage scales at the local high school
rsnge from 38 to 35 cents an hour,
according to type of work being done.
Moat of those working are receiving
the maximum pay at present. The
money received goes toward books,
clothes, food (school lunches), trans
portation and other school necessi
ties, which muet be stated definitely
on the application.
Help school Staff.
Many of the students working
under this arrangement are assigned
to various staff members of the school
for aid in clerical or similar duties
Two are at prenent employed In the
school office. Three or four are given
outdoor work on the grounds, keeping
and shrubbery In shape, tak
ing car of outdoor recreation fields
and other such activities. The home
economics department absorbs h few
glrla who keep the rooms cleaned and
straightened or serve In the cafeterlo
during lunch hours.
' Those with particular talents are'
glvon the opportunity to use them
whenever possible, and are paid ac
cordingly somewhat higher wages
than thoao enguged In purely msnual
duties. One student st present Is
constantly employed at lettering the
numerous signs neceasary about the
school or for outaldo purposes. An
other, who ahowed a definite car
pentry ability, is kept busy repairing
chairs and other school furniture.
Arrangement Convenient,
This year's arrangement whereby
the applications are made and de
nnnn bv the Drlnciosl and
truchcra was declared by Smith to j
bo much more convenient ana wora
sble than having the administration
hondled through the local relief of
fice, as It was done last year. School
officials sre sble to keep a constant
check on applicants and because of
constant association to know better
the sctual needs of each student.
The student reoolvlng this aid dors
not necesasrlly have to be a child
from a family on relief. Outside of
tits age, character and scholastic re
quirements, the student need only
show that without the extra employ
ment he will not be able to enter
or remain In school properly and to
certify that he will perform faith
fully and to the best of has ability
whatever Job may be assigned him.
The national youth administration
was established In 1U3J to provide
opportunity for young people to con
tinue their training and education
Lt year In Oregon approximately
1800 high school puplla and 19K0 col
lege students were enabled to con
tinue their oducstlon through work
provided by the various durational
tnatitutlons and funds provided by
the N.Y-A.

' OTHERS have always baked the best bread of course
they have yours and ours and everybody's baked the
best bread on earth and when we came home from
, school and asked for bread and jam oh, boy! that
bread with its finely flavored crust
world and it stands out in our memories as the most delicious
thing wj ever tasted.
Childish appetite, you will say perhaps you are right but let's
be sur suppose we get some of the same kind of bread prepare
it the same way and see if we'll relish it just as much as ever.
Come in tomorrow and buy
your Sunday supply you will
find it so near the same of
course it could never be quite so
good as mother's but it's so
good you will relish it as of old
and will have the satisfaction
of knowing childhood's appetite

MARKETS
Our Meat Markets are
Three Years Old
Tomorrow
Three years ago this week we installed
Super Meat Markets in both Groceterias.
We outlined for ourselves a policy from
which we have not deviated We would
handle only the finest quality steer beef
we would age this beef in our scien
tifically controlled coolers until it was
so tender you could cut it with a fork
By installing the finest Frigidaire equip
ment by not letting our meat cutters
handle money, we would care for this
fine beef in the most sanitary way pos
sibleOur continuous growth has proven
to us that you. our customers, appreciate
the many precautions we are taking to
safeguard your health. Truly it pays to
