This Is where the commission split.
The three original brain trusters ap
pointed on the commission are sup
posed to haw believed the U. S.
could profitably start out In the gen
eral direction pointed out by Euro
pean consumer co-op experience. The
two farm commissioners are said to
be In the throes of grave doubts.
The co-op study was originally In
tended for use In the presidential
campaign. The one or more reports
will be on Mr. Roosevelt's desk with

more than an even chance that he

authority than he professes to have.
Mr. Wallace was unexpectedly call
ed to Hyde Park early in the week
on what was advertised as a myste
rious mission. Word was given, out
that he was talking over some
phrases of crop Insurance with the
President. Tho fact Is Mr. Roosevelt
called him in to frame the reply to
Mr. Landon.
Mr. Wallace has five ghost writers,
which Is four more than most other
officials have, except the President.
He has often done ghost work for the
chief executive, but this is the first
time Mr, Roosevelt has ghosted for
him.

freight for the week ending last Sat
urday totaled 789,510 ears.
This was an increase of 89.651 cars,
or 12.8 per cent, compared with the
preceding week; an increase of 82,690

year ago. and an Increase of 145,013.
or 22.5 per cent, compared with two
