The gov eminent defender! of Iran brought 300 rebel prisoners Into the bom barded city tonight and announced they would be exposed at the moat dangeroua points to Insurgent ' air bombs. The prisoners were brought by truck from Fort Guadalupe after a dozen projectiles had burat In the city, evacuated except for govern ment fighters and their hostages. Two women were blown to blta. Berrang, 70-year-old proprie tor of the Covered Wnon lunch room at Phoenix who waa brutally beaten by two men Friday night when he ro fused to give them money, was to day reported as resting well after spending a comlorUble night at the Sacred Heart hospital. Stewart Resigns As Forest Agent Resignation of Logan 0. Stewart as purchasing agent of the ftogue river national forest service was announced today. The resignation became ef fective this morning. Mr. Stewart was employed by the forest service as purchasing agent In February. 1938. Previously he hart been employed In a similar capacity by the Owen-Oregon Lumber com pany. Four grand children also survive. Mr. Butler was born In Ma pie ton Iowa, on October 11, 1888, the son of Basil N, and Susannah Butler, enrly Medford residents now decessed. The family left Iowa for Oregon and settled In Harrlsburg. There on November 1, 1803, John H. -Btitler married Florence Bussey. Three chll dien were born of tho union, all of whom survive. Mr. Butler came here In 1893 and engaged In the paint and wall paper business which became the founda tion for the Medford Furniture ic Hardwaro company, one of the lead ing flrma in southern Oregon. When a young man In Iowa, Mr Butler was a member of the Congre- gotlonal church. He was long a member of the Knights of Pythias, Medford lodge of Elks and Woodmen of the World. During his long business career here, Mr. Butler was highly respected and esteemed. He made many lasting friendships because of his rugged honesty and sympathetic understand ing and his death Is generally mourn ed throughout southern Oiegon. (UP) Pompt ed by a story of a Montana coyote trapper, Texas hunters of predatory animals are preparing to use wire haired terriers In their ouslneas. R. E. Bateman, a Montana district agent for the United States depart ment of agriculture's predatory ani mal survey, described how the tiny dogs were used In den-huntlng. He sent a dog into a female coyote's den and to his surprise the terrier re turned without its prey. Bateman then tied a light chain to the dog's collar and . sent, tt back again. There was a great commo tion In the hole betow. The hunter gave a tug on the chain and out came the dog with a coyote almost twice as large. The dogs are used for their ability to follow a scent as well aa their retrieving ability. Professional hunters in Texas de stroyed 014 predatory animals In April. The animals coyotes, bobcats, wolves, and mountain Hons annual ly take a heavy toll from domestic animals on farms and ranches In , West Texas. The April catch includ ed 702 coyotes, 144 bobcats, 66 wolves I and two mountain Hons. In April 101 men worked a total of 2037 days with dogs, traps and rifles killing predatory pests.
