The actor-comedian, noted for a
long and outstanding screen career,
declined to mention 'any definite
destination on the river, stating only
that they were not visiting friends
and were uncertain aa to the exact
length of their stay which win not
extend over a' few days. They are
making a leisurely trip home, stop
ping for short periods at fishing
and vacation spots along the way.
Questioned as to his opinion of
southern Oregon, Beery said that aa
ha had only been In Medford about
ten minutes he couldn't say as yet.
Upon being reminded of a previous
visit to Medford a few yeara ago and
qulEzed concerning his fishing ex
perience at that time, he replied,
"Yes, X did some fishing but didn't
get anything" and Indicated a scepti
cal attitude toward the foundation of
the Rogue's fame aa an angler's para
dise.

lywood and Los Angeles, accompanied
by their small daughter and by Mr.
and Mrs. W. Morris, left here this
morning en route to Medford and
thence to Los Angeles. They had ar
rived here two days previous In tbelr
specially constructed Ford sedan.
Their automobile la a twelve passen
ger type which hsa been especially
constructed for outing trips. Mr,
Beery and party spent the day In
fishing for the Rainbow of Diamond
Lake, and good luck was reorted.
Little Carroll Ann Boery waa the
moat noticeable little person In camp
while she waa here.
The Beerys have been on an ex
tended outing and fishing trip
throughout the western states.

owed her life yesterday to a youth in
Jackson county Jail who gave a quart
of hla blood to pull her through a

Stapley, larger of the two youths,
was selected for the transfusion. Ha
gave a quart of his blood. The opera
tion was performed by Dr. LeRoy O.
Jensen.
After the operation the two prison
ers were taken back to Jail. Both aald
they wouid.be ready in ease another
transfusion waa found necessary.
They received no remuneration for
their services.
Stapley haa pleaded guilty to re
ceiving soma stolen calf meat and la
awaiting sentence. Cowan la accused
of assaulting George Hilton, marshal
of Jacksonville, and la awaiting ac
tion by the grand Jury.
