TOWNSENDITES OF CALIFORNIA PLAN TO BAN FRANCISCO. Aug. 27. (ff) California Townsendltes, who endors ed 11 successful congressional candi dates In Tuesday's primary election, drew plans today for backing the nominees In. their campaigns. Eight of the nominees were incum bents and the other three. Nelson n Matre, Harry R. Sheppard and Ed P. Sample, were newcomers to the con gressional field. E. J. Margett, state manager of the pension plan organization, said his group would put "workers, speakers and money" at the disposal of Town- send endorsed candidates, and pre dicted 17 of 30 representatives to be elected In November would have Townsend approval. Frank Arbuckle, western regional Townsend director, made an unsuc cessful bid for nomination In the 18th congressional district. Rep. John Dockweller, the Incumbent, piled up three times as many votes for the Democratic nomination and about the same number as Arbuckle on the Re publican ticket where the nomina tion was easily won by Raymond Dar by, mayor of ihglewood. Collins, who was renominated as a Republican, Sample captured the Republican nomination in the 30th district In which there was no Incumbent, Seven Devils Fire Gets Out Of Hand SALEM. Aug. 17. (AP) Thirty more men were sent Into the Seven Devils section of Coos county last night to fight a forest fire which has been raging there for several days. State Forester Ferguson said tha fire got out of bounds late yesterday with the result that additional men were requested. The fire reported at Reuoen moun tain In Josephine county yesterday was under control today. There were no other serious fires In the stale, Ferguson said.
