(API Likelihood of the state legislature hav ing to settle the county-state dispute over distribution of funds accruing from motor vehicle license fees and gasoline taxes loomed strong today. State and county representatives conferred here yesterday but were un able to reach any agreement. Bute representatives, headed by Chairman Henry F. Cabell of the highway commission and R. H. Sul ci ock, highway engineer, asserted that efforts of the state to get federal funds would be crippled If more funds were given the counties, Fed eral money will be distributed on a matching basis starting next year, they pointed out. (AP) The bureau of mlr.es today estimated the value of Oregon's 193 mineral out put at H.968.885. compared with 1, 218.07H in 1934, an Increase of 750, 610. The bureau said Its figures, set forth in the 1038 mtnerala yearbook, were preliminary and itibjeet to final revision later. The value of Oregon's mineral out put In 1B31 was 1310,703. It was 418,627 In 1932 and 1526,188 In 1033. the bureau's yearbook ahowed. The bureau's estimates covered gold, silver,, copper and lead from Oregon ores, gravela and M-treated tailings In terms of recovered metals. No output of Elno was reported. Gold Mnln Nourre The 1938 gold output was esti mated at 82,020 fine ouncea valued at 81,852,200, compared with 83.712 ouncoa valued at 81,178.220 In 1934. The silver output Increased from 46,660 ouncea, valued at 830.099, to 110,100 ounces, valued at 879,135. The copper production ollmbed from 38,375 pounds, valued at 83070, to 307,000 pounds, vslued at 832,951. Lead output Incroased from 41,808 pounds, valued at 81539, to 80,000 pounds, valued at 82400. Baker county continued to be the leading metal producer. Substantial outputs also were reported from Orant, Jackson, Josephine and Lane counties, tha bureau aald. Placer mines yielded twice as much gold as lode mines In 1934, nnd early estimates Indicated that about the same ratio continued through 1935, the bureau aald. Placera Handicapped There were many placer operators who mined only a few weeks or months becauae of "the scarcity of water." the bureau explained. Large quantities of gold were produced by aeveral dredging companlea. The larger part of the silver out put came from the Cornucopia Oold Mines, Ins., in Baker county.
