The good-will party, which will be open to all veterans and their fami lies whether or not they are affil iated with any veteran organizations, promises to be one of the most brll lant social events of the spring sea son officers stated. Joe Wood of Medford, representing the Spanish War Veterans, will act s general chairman for the party, Mr. Parker said. Earl Foy of this city, representing the American Legion, will be chair man of entertain me nt, while Mrs. Bdythe Martin, president of Amer ican Legion auxiliary of Medford, ' will be chairman of the hostess com mittee. Mrs, Nettle Cassman of Cen tral Point, representing the Disabled American Veterans' auxiliary, will be chairman of the serving committee; Met Young of the Spanish War Vet- ... erans here will have charge of the V refreshments, and Harvey Cassman, commander of the Disabled Amerl can Veterans, will be chairman of the housing committee. The good-will party Is being spon sored by the Allied Veterans' Coun cil, an organization devoted to the co-ordination of veteran activities in southern Oregon. The brakeman told detectives he saw one of the men pull the air brake, but In the baggage car the first hint that anything was wrong came when four of the men sud denly shoved their way Into the place with drawn guns. The robbery was over In a few minutes. The men Jumped from the car and leaped Into a waiting auto mobile which police said afterwards had been reported stolen March 27. Board Train at Depot. William Sutherland, station mas ter, said the train was seven min utes late in arriving at the Walnut street stop. When he went out to meet It, he said, the gunmen emerged from behind bushes surrounding the station. One of them poked a sawed -off shotgun In his ribs. "Stick 'em up or I'll blow your brains out," Sutherland said the gunman told him. The police were first apprised of the holdup when a railroad signal operator, seeing the men from his tower, telephoned Newark poliee. The train meanwhile had started on Its way. It was halted at the Fourth avenue station. Newark. Detectives boarded the cars there and searched them.
