M. Hus song'a paper on native wild flowers and shrubs of Oregon. Mrs. H. P. Cope was awarded the club vase for the best flower arrangement. At the close of the season, the vase will be awarded permanently to the member who has won It the greatest num ber of times. Announcement has been made by Mrs. O. O. Darby, president of the club, that the group will sponsor spring gardening for children, fur nishing the seeds and later Inspect ing them as to progress and relative beauty. Further Information may be had by calling Mrs. Darby. It was also announced that on April 24, which date has been set aside by Oovernor Martin for plant ing of gardens, the club will spend the day working In the shrubbery and rock garden In the children's municipal playground on Bear creek. Oovernor Martin has also set aside the date of November 38 for the civic i enterprise of cleaning and beautify ing city gardens and parks. : Recent Meetings Of 20-31) Ladles Mrs. Herb Brown was hostess of the 30-30 ciub at her home Thursday evening for the regular dinner meet ing of the group. Legion Auxiliary Officers Entertained Mrs. Coverstone To Head Crater Guild Mrs. Ethel Coverstone was elected president of the Crater Lake guild of the Presbyterian church at the meet ing Monday afternoon at the homo of MiM Fredericks Brommer. . Others elected were: Vice-president Mrs. Vorl Q. Walker; secretary, Mrs. Helen Holt Wilson; and treasurer. Miss Fredericks Brommer. At the close of the business meeting, book reviews were presented by Miss Wini fred Andrews. Mrs. James Grigsby and Mrs. Wilson. Mrs. H. M. Wels haar led the devotlonals. Refreshments were served by the hostess assisted by Mrs. Carl Brom mer and Miss Ruth Clement. All members of the guild are asked to note that as a result of an amend ment to the constitution enacted at this meeting, the guild will hence forth meet only once a month, the first Monday of each month. In preparation for the coming of Mlsa Esther Ansel, national staff member, April 28 and 29, to confer with council, leaders, local director, and troop committees, the personnel and training committee has been or ganizing troop committees among the various troops of the district. The committee has met with a fine re sponse from those contacted, thus feellnu that the women of Medford and neighboring districts are sup porting the Girl Scout organisation In a commendable way. A troop committee Is a group of three to five adults Interested In the welfare and continuity of a particu lar Girl Scout troop. They are form ed with the purpose of relieving the captain of certain auxiliary responsi bilities so she may be free to handle her main responsibilities of working and playing with her troop.
