Mies Ava B. Milam, dean of home
economics at Oregon State oollege
was guest speaker at the high school
Tuesday. Under direction otf Miss
Mauri ne Carroll and the home eco
nomics department all the glrla in
the school were given opportunity to
hear her. Miss Milam spoke to the
girls on a variety of subjects relating
to college, she told the experiences
of a number of glrla with whom she
has worked, at the college. Illustrat
ing the many and varied fields In
which girls may take college work.
The fact that It la very possible for
glrla to work their way through col
lege was stressed, and ways by which
this oould be done were explained.
The glrla enjoyed Mlsa Milam's talk
and gained, many useful facts from It.
Plans for the annual Girls league
week at the high school are well
under way. Miss Maurlne Carroll,
and Mildred Buckles, president of
the lengue, are putting forth every
effort to make thla week a bigger
success than ever before. The week
this year will be March 30 to April a.
Each year on week la set aside In
which the girls take over the school
affairs, give their annual assembly,
style show, tea, dance snd publish
the HI -Times. At the council lunch
eon Monday theae activities were
outlined and then explained fully to
the gtrls st the regular meeting
which followed.
Committees for these various func
tions were announced. Chairmen of
these committees are: Prances Daly,
assembly program; Mary Lou Long,
programs fot the week; Florence
Rlngoen, decoration for dance; Jean
Adams, decoration for style show;
Betty Purdln, general committee for
style show, and Betty Paeke, decora
tion for tea. Lola Remington will
edit the Glrla League edition of the
Hl-Time which will come out early
In the week.
Another matter also taken up In
the meeting was that of electing glrla
to receive merit awards. The glrla
elected were, Jane Adams and Betty
Paske, seniors; Delia Mae Dsle and
Janice Shreve, Juniors; Ruth Gar
lock and Muriel Stokes, sophomores.
These girls were elected, for excel
lence In scholarship, fellowship, abil
ity to work with others and service
for ths Glrla League. They will re
ceive their awards at the style show.

"Ladles and gentlemen will not
be permitted to take walka or drive
together and must not seek oppor
tunity for private conversation.
"All commun'catlon. such aa whis
pering, using signs, pasalng notes,
books, etc., Is forbidden during school
exercises.
"Gentlemen wilt use the doors
a nd s tat rca sea at th e western end
of the university building, and the
ladles those at the eastern end.
"Gentlemen and ladles must not
visit each other's rooms.
"Ladles will not be permitted to
receive calls without the permis
sion of the precept resa. No callers
wilt be, received on Sunday."
Under the rules. "ladlea" and "gen
tlemen" were free to come and go
ss they liked, provided they kept
out of each other's rooms between
3 p. m. snd 6 p. m. on Saturdays
and "on Monday until evening study
hours," which began at 7 p. m.

Brlcker, Miss Myrtle Willis being
the hostess. Visitors present were

Mra. Hattle Harris arrived In Rogue
River by stage Saturday morning
from a visit of several weeks with
her son and wife In Texas and will
spend a few weeks visiting her
mother, Mrs. M. R. Bliss and sta
ters. Mrs. James Wiley and Mrs,
Myrtle Whipple, before returning to
her home In Lewlston, Idaho.

Robert Breeding Is reported as
very ill with pneumonia at his horns
