The commis sion adopted a resolution expressing sympathy over Mr. Thompson's death and H. A. Banwell, secretary, was in structed to write to Gov. Charles H. Martin requesting the appointment of a member to take Mr. Thompson's place on the commission. The commission voted to apply to the state planning commission for additional help to assist Frank Sha rer, who Is engaged in preparing msps for use in future development work. C, J. As part of the company's educa tional program a cooking school will be opened soon In the Brenner apart ment building at 24 South Grape street, It was announced by D. E. York, vice president and general man ager of the gas company. Mrs. Ann Cheney of Portland, home economist, will be In charge of the school which Is Intended to show the efficiency of gas for cooking. In Its educational campaign the company will also feature heating plants and appliances. In recent weeks, Mr. York said, gas heating systems have been Installed In sev eral Medford homes. In the model home to be created here under su pervision of the federal housing ad ministration the company will Install a gas heating system and a water heater. Mr. York said. Southern Oregon Gas corporation has been in business here since 1913. It was acquired January 1. 1935, oy the Republic Electric Power corpora tion which operates In Oregon, Cali fornia and Oklahoma.
