Senator McNary and Senator Fred erick Stelwer, dispatches stated yes terday, were seeking appropriations tor defenses at Tongue Point and Portland but nothing was said about protection for the southern part of the state. Over the signature of Ben Harder, president, the chamber sent the following telegram to Senator McNary: "With reference to contemplated of aerodrome board. We believe air base imperative for defense of Ore gon and our site Is strategically lo cated. Will appreciate ' your con tinued support."
