DENTAL PAIN MINIMIZED SAVE -a m on P3NTISTKY by the Frequent Examination and Repair of Your Teeth Prices quoted gladly and in advance of any work done Filling, Plates, Bridges EXTRACTIONS Dr. Bariium DENTIST Opposite Hubbard Brm, Society By Janet American Legion - Auxiliary Millions for Defense Appropriation bills to be passed by congress will decide whether .or not the United states la to have the de fenses urged in the Legion Auxiliary national defense program. No enab ling legislation U necessary. It Is merely a question of the appropria tion of enough money for adequate national defense. . Hearings on the war department budget were begun in December, but no information regarding It provis ions waa made public. If it follows appropriations made for the current fiscal year it will provide for a regu lar army of 165.000 men and 12.403 officers, a national guard of 190.000 with 48 armory drills, two wekV training for 20,000 reserve officers, six weeks' summer training for ad vanced students in the R.O.T.C. one month's training for 30.000 youths in the C.M.T.C., and continuation of the national rifle matches. Thee provisions approach closely the Legion and auxiliary requests. Great strength haa been made to ward a treaty strength nary in the last two years. Our navy haa either built, la building, or haa appropriat ed for the limit to which we are en titled In capital ships, aircraft car riers and cruisers. We are now de ficient only iw destroyers and sub marines. In each of these two clauses Pwe now possess oreater number than we require, but the greater majority of these ships are over-ace and there fore require replacement. A foroe of 2500 military airplanes Is asked In the Legion and auxiliary piogram. The army now has only 1367 military planes, more than 1100 less than, the number considered needed. With the airplane becoming an increasingly important weapon, larger air force appropriations will be needed. As part of our national defense program, the auxiliary haa purchased a navy plat. From funds derived throughout the state by the purchase of these plates. $10.00 goes toward sending a boy to CA1.T.C. and 5.00 for the best Fldac emay.
