TO FOUNDERS DAY
Annually during the month of
Fcbrusry, branches of the Parent
Teacher association throughout the
nation observe Pounder'a Day, dedi
cating ceremonies to both national
and local founders. The thirty-ninth
anniversary of the founding of the
National Congress of Mothers will be
observed February 17 by Parent
Teacher people all over the land.

will be observed by local branohes
throughout the month.
Pounder's Day la set aside In re
membrance of Alice McLellan Blrney
and Phoebe A. Hearst, foundera of
the National Congress of Parents and
Teachers. Medford local associations
plans a schedule of observance of
Pounder's Day at different dates, so
that conflict may be avoided, the
entire month being set aside for that
purpose.
This year will especially commem
orate the late Mary drlnnell Meara,
whose husband, Dr. David Meara, re
ceived one of the Invitations to the
first congress In Wsshlngton. His
wife attended the meeting and for
the next thirty-nine years devoted
her time, thought and strength to
the work.
