AVOIDS FRIENDS WHO WOULD GIVE SOLACE "Teddy," the gallant chow dog which walked all the way from Long Beach, Calif., to Medford to rejoin hi owner, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Che ney, after becoming separated from them In the southern city, Is still missing. Apparently disconsolate at finding his "family" gone, the dog haa so fnr re Mined to make up with any of the friends of his master. nd although he hn been awn and recognized by several, he steadfastly refused to be taken. Those who have seen the dog say that he Is emaciated and weak locking from his 800-mlle trek. The Jackson County Humane society is co-operating Vith Mrs. Elizabeth Ouncierson In her search for the pet. A call came in from South Oak dale Thursday that the dog had been sighted In that district. Both Mrs. Gunderson and the Humane society combed the district for over an hour, but no further glimpse ol him was caught. It will be appreciated, Mrs. Oun- derson repeated today. Medford will be the first Oregon city (with the exception of Portland during their automobile show) that has been given the chance to view Major Bowes' amateurs in person, and as a matter of fact, one of the first cities In the entire Pacific northwest. Booked here by the Fanchon and Marco offices In Los Angeles, the ama teurs are expected to fill the desire for "In the flesh" entertainment that has not been available up to this date. The new aet up provides for live one-hour periods a week, two 01 which will be devoted to work In general physiology and hygiene. A full credit for one year's work will be allowed those who satisfactorily pass the required standards. Ed Klrtley, assistant athletic coach, and Head Coach Bill Bowerman are the bovs' ' Instructors. Both have been Instrumental In planning. In troducing and executing the pro gram of voluntary health education. Miss Carln Degermark, who ha long been associated with sport activities for girls, Is supervisor of health education for girls. An outgrowth of health education Is the organization of Intramural basketball and Individual porta tournaments. The boys are organized Into teams, each one of which will play every other team at least once. Games are played In the boys' gym nasium from 7 to 9 o'clock In the evening. The public Is welcome w come any time. Later In the year Mr. Klrtley and Mr. Bowerman will offer classes In wrestling, boxing and track. According to athletic heads, plana are underwny to make baseball and track major sports at Medford high school.
