Mrs. L. H. Smith returned to her
home Tuesday evening following a
visit of several weeks In Portland and
Hood River. Many pleasing social
events were arranged for the enter
tainment of the visitor by friends in
the northern cities. An Interesting
feature of the trip was a visit to
Bonneville, where the project of
building the dam Is In course of con
struction, and near by, on the river
bank, ts a neat looking little town
where about 3,000 employes are said
to be housed.
Mrs. O. E. Wilcox Is a recent ar
rival from Alsea, Ore., for an extend
ed visit with her mother, Mrs. Mary
Orlm. Mrs. Wilcox Is well known ic
the city, having spent several sea
eons with her mother.
Mayor W. C. Leever, having been
discharged from the Community hos
pital. Is convalescing from his recent
Illness. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Leever
of Seattle called here during the early
atages ot Mr. Leever 's Illness, and left
for their home after signs of recovery

Kenneth Wyatt, young son of Mr.
and Mrs. Ray Wyatt. la progressing
finely from the effects of infantile
paralysis. While not yet able to walk,
he maintains his naturally cheerful
disposition as he alts up and interests

gene Smith conducted a sewing class
at the home of Mrs. Glass, January
29. The guide pattern course was
completed and those who completed
the course are now capable of draft
ing their own patterns as well as
sewing and fitting accurately.
The community la deeply grieved
over the deatn of J. F. Dltsworth, Sr.,
January 24. Mr. Dltsworth was one
of our earliest settlers, having lived
here almost continuously for 55 years.
His stories of the early days on his
homestead, which la now the Frank
Dltsworth ranch, were a delight to all
fortunate enough to hear them. For
many years past hie birthday haa
been celebrated by hla many rela
tives and friends. He would have
been 00 years old on his next birth
day. Sincere sympathy Is extended
to the bereaved family. Mrs. uits-
worth leaves this week for Klamath
Falls, where she will make her home
With her daughter.
