Million Gate Looms.
If, aa aeems likely now. Louis and
Braddock are matched for the title
thla year, the "gate" ahould run
well over $1,000,000 and bring auch
a rush of customers aa no stadium
In the country could accommodate.
Practically every division produced
new champions during the past year
and It seems as though the turn
over will continue without Inter
ruption during 1930.
John Henry Lewis, negro from the
lar west, decisively defeated Bob
Olln for the light heavyweight
championship, but how long he can
hold It In the face of auch chal

and Tony Bhucco Is doubtful. The

Babe Rlsko, Is being pushed very

Tony Canaonerl may be hard pressed

Praise should be given to Freddy
Miller, featherweight champion, who
defended hla title not only In Eu
rope, but In this country, against
all comers. Why a few mlagulded
commissions should take It upon
themselves to endeavor to relieve
Miller of the title he won so Justly
and fairly la beyond conception.
During 1034 we had, of course, a
few lamentable flsacoa In boxing,
caused primarily by poor match
makers and aided and abetted by
the boxing commlaslona who allow
auch matchea to be put on.
The time la ripe now for ap
pointment of a "ciar" of boxing,
similar to the positions of Judge
Landla In baseball and Will Hays
In the moving picture Industry. Buch
a step la urgently needed for the
protection of boxing fans aa well aa
of promoters and boxera.
On the whole I firmly believe that
boxing can very well be proud of
Its record for 1036 and I feel It
will Increase Its positions tremen

Perhftps the reason we think tt
