(AP) The Oregon supreme court' today overruled the action of the bar examiners In deny ing admission to th bar of Dr. L. K. Poyntz of Portland. The case, the first of its kind for many years n the state court, was declared by Jus tices "most unusual." Poyntz. a practicing physician in Portland the past 12 years last May made application to the supreme court for admission to the bar after having passed the regular examina tions. The board of bar examiners had refused to admit Poyntz becauf-e. the board said, "his moral character was not good." After application was filed for ad mission, the board filed a complaint against him. naming four reasons why he should not be admitted. These included allegations that "his reputa. tion among members of his profes sion Is not good." that he had "aided and abetted oTie Dr. Richard Neu bauer in violation of the law relative to sale of narcotics," and that as a professional witness In personal in Jury cases his findings and testimony "In most cases are wilfully false.' These allegations were denied by the applicant. The opinion, written by Justice Harry Belt, overruled the action of the board and admitted Poyntz to practice, and vindicating him of all charges filed. MAE WEST'S MANAGER HELD FOR CONDUCTING INDECENT STAGE SHOW HOLLYWOOD, Cal., Jon. 2. (API Police raided an alleged Indecent stage show early today and arrested James A. Tlmony, business manager of Mae West, and 14 members of the cast of "Ladles by Request." After being booked on suspicion of producing an Indecent 6how and suspicion of failure to obtain a firs permit, Tlmony was released on his own l-ecognlzance. The ten actors and four actresses were booked on suspicion of partici pating In an Indecent performance. Miss West has denied on several occasions that she was lending finan cial support to her rotund, gray-ha'.r-ed manager in his theatrical venture. "If I come up to see his show, it's because I'm his friend." said the blonde star. Tlmony declined to comment on the case as his trial was set la night court for a week from today. (AP) Jesse Applegate, BO, grandson of Jesse Applegate, pioneer and famous, fig ure in enrly Oregon history, aica here Tuesday from a heart attack.
