MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFOKD, OREl.oX, THURSDAY, DECEMBER 26, 1933. PAGE EIGHT APPLEGATE PHONE LINE CONSTRUCTED Wlffl HELP OF CCC lCI APPLEGATE, Dec. 2 (Spl.) A new consolidated telephone sys tem pxtendlnf? from Hutton toJficlt tymvnie will be completed this wln l by CCO men without cost to local shareholders, ,ccordln& to a ntrnct with the roreat service In TMlch the government has tBken ver the farmers' lines to Jack r.llle. Farmers are free of all obllna ons In construction of the line, but are asked to pay their isnare ot malntenair costs after the line la ullt. According to Banner lee Port, who met with the consolidated share holders at Ruch laat week, a wood preservative iled on the po'ea will Riiarantee good condition of the line for IS years, barring an acci dent or unusual weather conditions. The contract granting ownership of the lines to the forest service, which was drawn up for a year, to be renewed annually, has nothing to do with regulation of shares or twitching fees. Construction of the new line waa completed last year from Hutton to Ruch, and a CCC crew la engaged st present In build ing the line to Jacksonville. Polea will be put on one side of the high way, and will serve the 38. 31, 33. p and government lines. For years the consolidated lines from the Applegate have been In most unsatisfactory atate. and local residents are pleased with the new arrangement. 1 .1 veal nrlc PORTLAND. Ore., Dec. 58.
