' Dog Poisoned Mrs. Henry Pace. !22 Mistletoe street. Informed city police that her dog had been poisoned with strychnine about 3:30 yesterday after noon. Police were investigating the charge today. Navy Office Cloned The navy re cruiting office In the Federal building will be closed because of ths holidays until December 28. It was announced today by Ernest M. West, recruiter. Meeting convenes at 7:30. YULE PROGRAMS SCHEDULED FOR PRESBYTERIANS The Presbyterian church Is plan ning a number of Interesting activ ities for Christmas week. The young people ere having a party In the church parlors tonight at 8 o'clock. Those coming are asked to dress as "kids," to plan a "kid" game, and to bring one-half dozen cookies end a ten-cent toy for the gift exchange. It Is also announced that those wish ing to send a gift to Alice Encllsh are Invited to bring the gift for the Christmas surprise box to be mailed to her tomorrow. Sunday morning at the Christmas service there will be a Christmas ser mon and the following numbers by the choir: Anthem, "Gloria" Moz art; "The Stranger from Galilee," by Dolores R. Sperling. Sunday evening at 6:30, the young people will have a Christmas meeting, led by Thomas Hardy. Sunday evening et 8 o'clock the choir will present an evening of Christmas music. Monday evening, the Sunday school will present a Christmas program in three parts. The first part consists of carols by the Junior vested choir, directed by Mrs. Don Newbury, and MASQUERADE DANCE Christmas Eve. E TO MAIL STAFF Incoming Christmas mall is con siderably heavier than at the same time a year ago, Roland G. Beach, assistant postmaster, said today. Outgoing mall, Mr. Beach stated. Is not quite so great as it was last year but that Is because Medford residents heeded .the admonition of the postal service to mall packages early. Three substitute carriers were added to the postofflce staff today to help handle the Increased mall. Three others were employed yes terday and two about a week ago, making eight extras In all on the Job now. This Is two more than re quired at the same time a year ago, Mr. Beach said. CIVIL SERVICE TESTS The following civil service exami nations were announced today: Transportation tariff examiner (freight) and transportation tariff examiner (passenger) for the inter state commerce commission.
