EAGLE POINT. Dec. 19. (Spl.) A
Christmas program will be given In
the church by the Sunday school on
the evening of Sunday at B o'clock.
The program will consist ot carols,
tableaux and recitations. All are cor
dially invited to attend. ,
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Stanley passed
through Eagle Point Wednesday with
a load ot 300 dressed turkeys, to Med
ford, to be shipped to the San Fran
cisco markets.
A Townsend club was organized In
Eagle Point and held the first meet
ing In the Oasis hall Monday night.
There was an election of officers and
plans made for future meetings. The
next meeting will be held the night
of December 30, and all members and
those Interested are urged to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Ferren of Ash
land called on Mr. and Mra. Orvllle
Henderson last Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Nick Young were din
ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. William
Perry last Sunday evening.
Frank Rhoades was attending to
business In Eagle Point Tuesday.
Miss Marjorte Poling of Phoenix
spent last Saturday and Sunday ns a
guest ot the Misses Minnie and Flor
ence Putman.
Mrs. Carlyle Natwick of the Long
Mountain district was a business
caller in Eagle Point Monday.
Mrs. Orvllle Henderson received a
letter from Los Angeles Wednesday
morning which told ot an automobile
accident In which her daughter,
Muriel, suffered several severe bruises
and cuts about the head and face
which necessitated her being In a
hospital for three days. At the pres
ent she is Just able to be up a little
with aid. She waa riding with her
father-tn-law. Tony McClelland, when
their car was struck by another car
traveling on the same side ot the
road, causing the accident which hap
pened so suddenly that neither one
of them seem to know Just how or
what happened, as both occupants of
the McClelland car were knocked un
conscious. Mr. McClelland sustained
a compound fracture of the seventh
vertebrae and la In a cast, besides
being badly bruised and shocked. It
will be remembered by some that he
had another accident this fall In
which his wife sustained a broken
back and has been In a cast ever
since, but who la getting along nlo;ly
and wilt soon be able to be up with
the aid of a steel brace. Mra. Guy
Bishop of Antelope, daughter or Mr.
McClelland, went down to be with
her father for a while.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Perry, Grace Hol
man and Lucille Coy attended a play
given by the Sam Valley Grange at
the school house Wednesday evening.

upper Table Rock and brought back a

spent ten days visiting with his son
and family. He said the weather was
bright and sunshiny whlla he was
there, but rained all the way on his
trip back home.
The school will have the Chrlatmas

Mr. Johnson of the forestry office
at Medford was at the Star ranger
station Monday and Tuesday, check
ing property. Mr. Sunderman, land
scape artist from the Medford for
estry headquarters, also was at the
ranker station Wednesday, planting
evergreen obtained from coast emo
tions.
Elmer Lewis of Crescent Mills, Cal.,
arrived here last week to bo with his
mother, Mrs. Newton Lewis, who suf
fered a paralytic stroke. Mra. Lewis
Is receiving treatment at the Jack
sonville 'sanitarium, and Is somewhat
improved.
Mrs. Opal Mooter and little son ex
pect to leave this week tor Portland
where they will spend the holiday
period with relatives.
Members of the Ruch sewing circle
were scheduled to entertain their hus
bands with a chicken dinner at the
schoolhouse Wednesday evening.
The condition of Mrs. Truman
Lewis. Ill at her home here for the
last two weeks, remains serious. Mrs.
Lewis la suffering from complications
following measles.

business session conducted by the
class presldonv Mrs. E. E. Scott, a
fine program on the Christmas theme,
interspersed with the singing of
Christmas carols, was led by Mrs. Lois
Young. A beautiful Christmas tree
with mementos for for all lent an
attractive air to the other decora
tions. Delicious refreshments were
served by a special committee. Forty-
five ladles were hi attendance.

Lake Creek Grange
Next meeting of Lake Creek Grange
will be December 27, when the retir
ing officers will give their annual re
ports.
The chairs were occupied by the
newly elected officers at the last
meeting with Tom Stanley In the
master's station. Lecturer Mabel
Brown presented an entertaining pro
gram, some numbers of which follow:

Claus Charley, readings from Bible
on Christmas by Ella Meyer, con
struction of centerpiece for table by
Myrtle Charley, games and relays
which furnished much amusement.
A hobo lunch, brought by each
lady In a paper sack, was sold to
each gentleman for ft cents.
