CCC Boxer Retires Gordon Hous ton, the CCC boxer of Camp Gasquet who was to have been a contestant Jn the Portland classic this week, was discharged from the service today so that he might accept outside em ployment. Pioneer Woman III Mrs. A. L. Har- Tey. mother of Mrs. E- M. Wilson, Is erlously 111 at her home In Ashland. She Is one of this valley's oldest pio neers, crossing the plains with her father. William Merlrrvan. In 1853. Her mother died from hardships while mflklng the trip. Mr. Harvey Is B7 years of age. T GO 10 PORTLAND E. O. Narregan. United States dep uty marshal, returned to his office In the federal building here today after taking two prisonera to Port land from the Jackson county Jail. The prisoners were Curtis W. Duke and Charlea N. Meyers. Duke Is charged with assault and robbery at the Hockatown, Oklahoma, postof- ftce. He was arrested recently near Kerby in Josephine county. Meyers Is alleged to be a fugitive from a fed eral road camp in Washington. He was arrested In Klamath Falls. Duke's wife and two children, who have been living In Cave City, were reported today to be destitute. Mr. Narregan was to leave this af ternoon on a business trip to Klam ath Falls. SNOWWSESltATE TO The 10-mtle stretch of state high way from the Diamond lake Junction to the west entrance of Crater lake national park was closed temporarily today because of a fresh fall of snow, national, park headquarters here an nounced. . -i The park service Is keeping Its roads open to the south and west entrances but It has no Jurisdiction over the state highways, whether or not the. state intends to keep its part of the highway open could not be as certained today.
