45 were at the meeting. The Ladles'
Aid had charge ox the entertain
ment, serving the meals In the
Community hall.
Mr. and Mr. Nat Hart, Mrs. Fred
Dengler and Mrs. Richard Scott were
Medford visitor Wednesday.
Seventy-five friend and members
of Live Oak and Gold Hill Grange
met at the Community hall and
enjoyed the evening Monday, Sep
tember 30. The evening' program
started off with Live Oak: Grange
putting on the officers seating drill
and the flag drill. An address of
welcome was given by Master Ptrry
Walt and he also Introduced the
speaker, W. A. Johnson, of Grant
Pass. Don Elliott, with his banjo.
accompanied by Phlllis Miller on
the piano, brought much applause
from the audience. Mrs. Daniel
Powell sang a solo which was rgeat
ly enjoyed. Edward Carter gave two
tap dance numbers which pi eased
everyone a also did the tap dance
given by little Charlotte Carter.
Two little skits put on by Grange
member caused much merriment.
The program was followed by game
and the Grange ladle servod cake
and coffee at close of the evening.
This wa booster night and was
very succesful meeting.
Mrs. A. A. Mathea and Mrs. Min
erva Dengler were visitor from
Grants Pass to the Fred Dengler
home Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. James Whipple were
Grants pas shopper Tuesday after
noon. The Rogue Rivet Townsend club
met at the Community hall Tues
day night. A large attendance was
present and enjoyed the address
given by Frank Gibson, of Grants
Pass. Eleven new names were added
to the membership list, bringing the
total to 155 members. The next
meeting will be October 15, at which
time a good program Is promises
by the committee. Everyone welcome.
Leo Smith, new owner of Del
Rogue Feed and Seed store, was a
Grants Pass business visitor Tues
day. Mrs. X. T. Galllgar returned on
Tuesday from Council Bluffs, Iowa,
where she has been visiting her
three sisters.

Mrs, N. L. Raymond, of Orange,

mond Is Mrs. Scott' aunt and
Mr, Csrlcker Is her cousin.

Mr. and Mrs. George Balke and
children of San Francisco, and
Mrs, Nancy Wilson of Central Point,
visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
T. J, Wilson Tuesday.

TOLO, Oct. 7. (Spl.) Kenneth,

Thurston, was rushed to the Sacred
Heart hospital Wednesday night and
at 8:80 underwent an emergency ap
pendicitis operation. All are hopeful
of a epeedy recovery,
Mr. Thurston ba announced the
first program of the school year, to
be on Hallowe'en. These are com
munity get-together meetings and all
are cordially Invited to attend.

tional pardon granted to 8am Nelaon
of Union county In April, 1034, waa
revoked late Saturday by Governor
Martin. Nelaon was received at the
state penitentiary here. September 37,
1931, to serve a 10-year sentence for
robbery.

Valley View Community club held Its
first meeting last Thursday. After
the routine business conducted by the
president, Mrs. L. Gallatin, Mr.
Lucherhand, chairman of the program
committee, called roll, had communi

Wayne Cowdrey of Talent, had his
foot badly crushed Sept. go when a
large log rolled over U. He Was em
ployed by the Skeet Logging Co.,
which 1 hauling logs from Wagner
(lap. Mr. Cowdrey was taken to the
Aahland Community hoapltal, where
he received medical care.

TALENT, Oct. 7, (Spl.) The barn
belonging to Tom and Day Shuster, of
Beeson Lane, was completely destroy
ed by fire Saturday. About 30 tons of
hay was burned, and farm equipment
also.
The fire was started by hot ashes
from a pipe, but when It was discov
ered, such headway had been made,
that nothing could be saved. The fire
spread to the Anderson property, but
was brought under control by the as
sistance of the CCC. The Ashland
chemical engine waa called. There
waa a small amount of Insurance.
