Explaining that Phillip waa not one of the disciples but a layman elected to an office similar to that of deacon of the Baptist church, the Rev. Mr. Dawes painted a picture of Phillip as a man of faith who trusted In the Lord for his own salvation. "Phillip believed In the promise of the gospel, the Rev. Mr. Dawes told the congregation. "He believed In the power of the gospel. He believed that God is all-powerful. He believed In the ability of God to help man In all manner of difficulties." BUT MAKE ESCAPE Two young -men, yet unidenti fied Sunday night at 9:30 figured In an auto crash at the corner of River aide and Jackson streets, when the Chevrolet coach In which they were riding turned over. According to wit. nesses who helped the two place the overturned car back on Its wheels, both were Intoxicated. After the machine waa righted, they crawled Into it again, and despite the fact that all the glass was broken out of It, and both front door posts were smashed, drove It away before police arrived. The car was found abandoned near the north edge of town. The car Is registered to Geo. Hyde of Grants -Pass, but police stated that the machine had recently been sold by Hyde. They were check ing on the case thla afternoon. (AP) Sugar prices on the Pacific coast were set by leading refineries yester day at SS.10 a 100 pounds for csns snd as for beet, effective today. The new prices meant a drop of 90 cents by the western sugar re finery, which last week boosted the cane price from MJ0 to S5.S0 and the beet price from S4 80 to ts.ao.
