out.
According to William A. Gates, the
tomato crop this year Is the best in
soveral years In quality and quantity.
He estimates that 76 per cent of the
crop grades No. 1.

avoid a crash with a rapidly ap

JESSE PHILLIPS
Jws Phillips, a resident of the
Bhady Core district, passed away at
his home there Wednesday morning,
after a lliurerlrgj illness.
He was born In Republic county.
Kansas. In 189 and came to Oregon
with his parents In IBM. and resided,
most of the time In Jackson county.
His wife. Esther Phillips, preceded
him In death In 1931.
He leaves to mourn his depsrture.

and Harry of Portland. Edwin and
Lester of Shady Cove; four brothers.

Belllngham, Wash., Oeorge of Eagle
