Mrs, Nellie Cotton and little

father, a. A. Bnker, at Pine Tree
camp Sunday. Mrs. Cotton Is stay
ing In Ashlond, where she la taking
tonic treatments preparatory for a
major operation.
Mr. and Mrs. Lemery and children

guests at Pine Tree camp recently.
They were here to look at the Verlln
Tule ranch which they had thought
of purchaalns. They decided to look

Miss Patricia Polndexter, who has
been a guest In the Denver Davla
home, returned to Medford Tues
day. After a four days' visit with her
sister, Mrs. Mel Williams at Grants
Pass. Mlsa Arlene Inmann returned
to her home here Tuesday. She also

Williams families.
Mr. and Mrs. P. G. Robley of EsU
eada, Oregon, are vacationing In
southern Oregon and while seeing
the lakes and visiting relatlvea and
frlenda In Ashland, Medford and
here, are stopping at the Valandra
camp In Central Point. Mr. Robley

land Electric Co. Mrs. Robley Is a

Weather on Williams creek went
to two extremes recently. The hot
test day of the year registered 107
degrees and two nights later a light
frost hit the higher portions of the
valley.
Harold Plrce, electrical staff ser
geant of the coast artillery at Fort
Monroe, with his bride Is visiting
friends In Oregon. Harold grew up
on Williams creek and has many
friends who Join In wishing him a
happy life. He Is on a three months
furlough.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Falrweather
and two children of Rio Vista, Cal.,
are spending a two weeks vacation
at the home of their parents, Mr.
and Mrs. C. W. Roberts. i
Mrs. Addle Pierce of Grants Pass
visited her sister, Mrs. Taylor Harley.

Mrs. Olen Hunter Is visiting for
a few weeks at St. Paul. Minn., her
childhood home. She went back to
be present at the wedding of her
girlhood chum.

for her son, Lieutenant Oeorge E.

The new Murphy bridge will be
open to traffic by the middle of
September, according to Mr. Nelson,
foreman on construction. Because of
some trouble on account of Inex
perienced labor on riveting It will
be Impossible to finish sooner. The
riveting Is now finished, as is most
of the pouring of concrete on the
steel. Tho wood and concrete railings
arc In place and the workmen are
clearing away the forms. Then with
a coast of paint tho structure will
be practically complete.
Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Fairbanks of
Scuttle were guests last week at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. George Cock

TALENT, Aug. 30. (Spl.) Mrs.
Plsek. of Junction City, Colo., is
visiting at the home of her slater,
Mrs. M. Kllmlck. This Is the first
time In 16 years that the sisters
have seen each other, and it was
a pleasant surprise to Mrs. Kllmlck
when her sister came unexpectedly.
The dance given at the city hall
Saturday night was not very well
attended, due to lack of advertising.

crop Is reported good this year.
Prospect school will open Septem
ber 0. There will be three new teach
ers and a new school bus.
