This tho can tiers realize," he stated, "but they also realize that by with holding offers until It Is too late lor the fast ripening fruit to be packed for the fresh fruit market, they can force the grower Into a disastrously low price bracket." One of tho men at the meeting today, familiar with the federal loan situation, stated on his personal guar antee that the government would be willing to subscribe from 75 to 80 per cent of the total money required. The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce has extended an offer of 100 per cent cooperation In the matter, as have all of the otlirr growers contacted, who were not at the meeting. A local banker Is act ing In an advisory capacity. The cannery would be mutually owned by the growers themselves, placing them In so advantageous a position that they would never again be forced to meet the canners prices, Loveretto pointed out. The canned pears could be held for the best mar kets, and could be picked at the best time of year. Have Thousands There were 14,500 tons of Bart letts harvested in the valley last year, and the estimate for the prcs' cut seaKon will exceed that by 600 tons.
