U a mnch car which haa won quite an MWndln8 nam. for Itself In the X "o?.peed. in .932 on th. f.nv Mr Montlhery .peed track It broke .ii .need record. " malnulned an IleragHpetl of better than in mile, per hour for .U hour.! (However. believe that all of these record. broken la.t year by the P.erce Irrow which w driven by Ab Jen kl It averaged 123 miles per hour tooths first 1.000 miles and better . 11 7 for the full 3.000 m.le.) The particular Delag. model that made those record. Is known a. the D i-S It U an elgni-cjruuuei- special model built primarily for fast tour m But. according to their litera ture. .Po was not their only ob jectlv. when they designed these cam They also gave serious consideration to comfort and ease of handling. The car has 130 Inches of wheelbase which Is ample for passenger comfort but which is also short enough to give comparatively good maneuverability. As we understand It, this csr Is also quipped with Independently sprung front wheels. A transverse spring Is used In front, while the conventional type of spring Is used for the rear. With this combination of wheelbase and springing the car ahould be stable to tk the roughest bumps with I UH. These can may be had with various typea of bodies, all of which are either two or four seaters. The road ster 1 especially Interesting. It Is quipped with the most streamlined fenders and th rear of the body Is nicely sloping and pointed. But, in contrast to Bll of the streamline ef fects, la the radiator, which Is flat and straight up and down. There Isn't even so much ns a slight V In It to split the wind. That Is a feature which we cannot understand about so many foreign cars. They will have everything on the car very stream lined except the radiator, and it attcks out like a sore thumb. Another very novel body la the "fixed head" four-window coupe. This coupe has two windows on each side but does not have any p06t between them. They work like this. The window In the door winds up and down "like the conventional car win dow, but the quarter window behind It slides back and forth Instead of up and down. With this feature the driver and passengers may obtain a full and unobstructed view. We are sure this Idea would be a great ad vantage In crowded city traffic where unobstructed vision Is very essential. The Ford Motor Company sees to it that you get a safe car. Unusual power to go ia combined with unusual power to stop. Ford brakes are an outstanding feature. They are powerful, efficient and easy to apply with more braking area per pound of weight than any other car under $1095. But Ford safety is more than the safety of good brakes. It is built into every part of the car. The Ford body is all steel . . . steel reinforced with steel and electrically welded into a one-piece unit for still greater strength. All Ford body types have Safety Glass throughout at no extra cost. Three other reasons why you will feel safer In a Ford are ease of handling, stability, and the alert, obedient performance of the V-8 engine. The Ford is steady on curves. It hugs the road because of correct weight distribution and because its center of gravity is low. You will find that the steady, sure response of the Ford communicates calmness and confidence to those in the car and makes each journey easier and more reposeful. The Ford thus gives you double safety. The way it drives helps you to avoid danger. The way it is built provides unusual protection in time of emergency.
