Itora over Saturday and Sunday. Joe
Marshall of Medford, who la handling
the boat races at the lake on the 4th
of July, brought his new Inboard
motorboat In Saturday for tjhe first
time. He reported entries for the
races from Klamath Falls, Medford,
Weed and Yreka. Joe was accom
panied by his brother, Jack Marsh!!
Other Medford visitors were Lee
Bullla, Chauncey Brewer and Bab
Hayes.
Mr. and Mrs. Victor Milne spent
part of their honeymoon at the lnko,
where Vlo Milne and Winston Smith
of Don's Radio shop Installed an elec
trical music box in the Lake o the
Woods lodge.
Olenna Mi near, Leona Darby and
Helen Lamb have taken a cabin at
the resort for three weeks or longer
Bob Conroy of Medford and Nell
Cornwall of Oakland, Cal., have been
at the lake for a week, and plan to
stay several more weeks.
J. B. Ropers of Santa Crux and C.
Walters of Klamath Falls are making
additions to their cabins at the lake.

One of the best catches of bass
during the week was made by George
Bean of Klamath Falls at the south
lend of the lake Sunday.

SALEM. July . (AP) Intereat
during. the past 11 months accruing
from the Irreducible school fund, and
which was appropriated today by the
state land board, totaled 1322.780. or
an average of 11.25 per child of school
age.
The change In the law, advancing
the date of the fiscal year to July 1,
rather than Auguat 1, was the reason
the computation was for 11 months
only, aeorge Brown, clerk of the
board, announced.
The total, however, was an Increase
over the funds for the 13 months last
year. In 1934 a total of ,313.9.13 or
1.21 per child. The number of school
children, the basis of the apportion
ment to counties, decreased from
259.44S to 268.224.

the Fir Point conference grounds
near Olendale, has been dedicated at
the second project of the Southern
Oregon Presbyterian young people.
The 160 -acre grounds were opened
last year and a swimming pool built.
Each year a new building Is to be
added. The enrollment this year is
144.
Alabama Polytechnic Institute
claims It was the flrnt southern ol

CRATER LAKE NATIONAL PARK,
Ore., July 3. (Spl.) Snow snorts are
In store for Crator Lake visitors on
the Fourth of July. A large snow
field near The Watchman, first high
point on the west rim, Is ideal for
skiing and tobogganing and will no
doubt attract hundreds of vlaltors to
this section of the park
Ample parking facilities will be
available for motorists near the snow
sport area. The snow Is In idea!
condition and will offer a pleasant
contmet to the warmer temperature
of the valley.
In addition to snow sports, Crater
Lake offers Fourth of July visitors
the best trout fishing In several sea
sons. So far this year quite a num
ber of limit catches have been caught
from the shore of the lake, but with
boats now available at reasonable
rates, angling will be even better.
The limit catch for sometime past
has been five fish per person per
day, but this year has been Increased
to eight fish.
Visitors are reminded no fishing
license la necessary at Crater Lake,
and tackle can be rented at the boat
landing. While the crater wall trail
has been open for several days, it Is
still covered by snow, through which
the trail has been cut. During the
earlier hours of the day, the snow Is
firm, but becomes more or less soft
during the afternoon. Persons mak
ing this trip are advised to have ade
quate footwear.
Naturalist services, offering guided
trips to points of interest are now
underway, with points of central ln
tereatat the Slnnott Memorial ob
servation station, equipped with high
powered glasses trained on Important
rim points, and supplemented by dis
play oases, informal discussions are
offered on regular schedule.
